Ping WRX Fairway orders

Anyone have experience with recent timelines? I was quoted at ~12 weeks for G440 4 wood with digital loft, 4g hot melt.

What shaft did you order?  That can significantly effect the lead time also.

Even for the stock shafts, 12 weeks

That is about right. My whole bag is built by WRX. D and FW woods were a little less time, iron set was every bit of 12 weeks and worth the wait. 
 

If you have a good rep they can keep you pretty informed on the timeline.

Im learning after rebuilding my bag from highschool golfer 15 years ago to now and im starting to notice WRX is the way to go. I ordered my SM10's 50deg and 54 deg with project x rifles 6.0 -0.25 inch, -0.5 inch, and wrx Opus 60 deg px rifle 6.0 -1 inch. 

 

Just WRXed a "5" hybrid Callaway Elyte (24 deg) to gap 19 deg 5 wood and 5 iron. Ordered +.0.75 so its more of a true 4 hybrid as its loft suggests

I’ve seen the 7W heads on some sites are back ordered until mid-August or so. Showed availability on PGASS so I ordered one last Sunday.  It’s shown in progress all week.  I’ve asked for an update but no response from PGASS so far.

The idea being, say you want a 7 degree G440 Max driver. The lowest loft that comes in is 9 degrees. The sleeve is adjustable +- 1.5. But, because of manufacturing tolerances, some of the 9 degree drivers are actually more like 8.2 degrees, or 9.7 degrees. When you buy it, you don’t know what it actually will be.

 

Digital lofting allows you to tell ping “I want a head that is closer to 8-8.5 degrees (as opposed to potentially being 9 on the dot or closer to 9.5),” so that you can turn it down to that 7 degree setting you want. Ping will measure their 9 degree heads, until they find one in your range.

Still don’t understand why checking for the proper loft is called „digital“?

 

And with tolerances that apparently can span a range of up to 3 degrees, OEMs should definitely be concerned about their manufacturing processes. It shouldn’t be rocket science to produce to tighter tolerances.

They call it digital because they use a digital loft gauge to check and select the head.

 

it’s not rocket science, it’s golf science.  The cost to produce tighter tolerances exceeds the value to most consumers……
