When shoes start rubbing -

Have a newer pair of FJ Wing Tip Traditions, style 57922.

Worn about a dozen times with no issues but the last two rounds, the outside bottom of my right heel is getting rubbed & blistered.

I wear cushioned socks - tried blister tape, but the patch rolled down and stuck to the inside of the sock. twice.

 

My other traditions, model 57927, don't do this at all.

Not sure if there is any way to reduce/eliminate the issue, or if I should just trash them.

 

Wonder if anyone else has had this experience.

Here's the trick I used back in the days when I played lots of soccer and tennis: wear a super thin sock under your normal socks. This makes the "slip surface" be between those two socks instead of your sock and skin. This always worked much better than tape which, as you said, tends to roll and bunch up.

 

You can find these by looking for "sock liners", though back in the day, I just used the thin cycling socks I had a ton of anyway.

The sock liner should work.

Your old pair have 5 eyelets.

Your new have 4 eyelets.

The more eyelets, the more secure the footwear becomes.

Tie the laces tight enough so as to not pain the top of foot.

try a runners knot too - might need a cobbler to add another eyelet but def helps with lock down... i feel ur pain, my feet are really vulenarble to these blisters
