Creating space is bunk!

I’m guessing the pulling the handle or leading with the right elbow is what they are bunking. But I could be wrong. I’m surely no expert 😞

I think whatever they're bunking is the thought of the hands being in-front of the pivot at impact. Im not even sure where they're getting the need for that bunk-ness. I wonder if they're seeing a bunch of people forcing the hands way out in front during lessons/schools..

Seems like a response to the “hold lag handle-draggers” and the “elbow pushing in and forward to tip the shaft behind you shallowers” - which gets ams thinking the hands have to lead coming into impact to get shaft lean

Also the garden variety out-to-in slicers that pull the arms across the body to hit the ball, rather than using their body to turn

So basically the teachers that said to handle drag, pull right elbow thru, orbit pulling (that I saw on be better golf),even the hands forward hit down stuff. The instructors who teach that will now say they were teaching us a feel to sync us up. Or a feel to have bodies more open at impact. And say this video by AMG is inline with their teachings. However they will place the blame on us students for not interpreting them correctly and all will be right in the world.Basically we are stupid and they are never wrong scenario.Old bait and switch. Haha

At one time Amg was the one pushing that type of swing. Anyone remember the video where they described holding a students shoulders closed while asking him to get the club to the ball and he couldn’t do it until the golfer pulled his arms off his/her chest and forward in front of his/her midline? They were heavy teaching arms first..basically a Chris Kirk feeling movement imo.

if anything they have went way closer to gankas/Milo than I would have ever guessed.

You, sir, have epitomized bunk!

Every drill and feel has a place. The student has to interpret the teachings into a swing. For someone taking consistent lessons, they'll do this better because they'll be able to get confirmation from their instructor...unless they have a crappy instructor.

But every drill or feel is also bad, in the wrong place.

So, everything is bunk unless it's not. You, the student...you, the wrx poster, have to figure it out.

Get a good instructor (or just move the body better).

Oh so close to bolstering an argument in my head for a "measured swing data is bunk" thread.

Link? I don’t think I’ve seen that video, but I can envision a version of that drill that makes sense with this motion as well…think it was in a video where they talk about the release, and show Rory’s arms at P5, and then fully released as if the body hadn’t rotated at all

Edit: video I was thinking of for reference, 4:30-5:20 or so

They're bunking amateurs' widespread tendency to swing their arms across their body in the downswing. And bunking the misconception that shaft lean involves getting the hands across the body.

I don't think they're taking aim at any instruction styles here, just the sort of incorrect movements people make (or try to make) based on their misunderstandings, which is largely based on the illusions created by 2D video.

If your trail arm reconnects to the side seam p4-p5, lead arm adduction would increase.  An increase of lead arm across the chest during the downswing is a bad swingers attribute (they are aware of this). Where the arm/elbow/hands are relative to the mid line of the body at impact and what path and sequence they took to get there are two different things.  What they are demonstrating is recreating impact arms while the body stays at p4, but unfortunately, it translates to how to sequence in order to obtain.  Their demonstrations in this video are misleading and not well thought out.

I’m not a expert on this subject matter but as 46 year old male that never had a desk job, that getting my belt buckle over my left foot is at my end range of motion and there is no way my body is letting me hit that end range of motion swinging 113 mph.

I’m certainly open to be very wrong about my statement but I don’t believe I am. This has been a hit topic since Gankas got hot. Nobody besides maybe Milo, has people hitting with their right side than Gankas and yet it’s extremely rare to see an old timer on his feed. There is a reason for that imo.

I'm a 55yr old lorry driver with a bad back and can put my buckle over my left foot with ease. The speed is not relevant in terms of range of motion. Your hips either can move 45 degrees open or they can't.

If you say people can't get there swinging fasf that's because something in there is stalling them.

Pulled this from a google search of “lead arm adduction”. Credit to kdgolf (dont know him).  Figure on the left shows more lead arm adduction than figure on the right.IMG_2014.jpeg.3f893c71c8d1a64534fde83054311bb4.jpeg

Ah...so

More lead arm adduction is either from

1. Shoulders rotating open too early in the downswing

2. Transition move where the arms go deeper (more away from the ball)

3. Both
