@18majors is in constant disbelief that the LPGA isn't as popular as other sports. Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark earns a whopping 78k, while as of now 120 players on the LPGA have earned that much or more, despite the lack of it's popularity. Whenever they reach top 5 in popularity amongst professional women's sports, they can demand more money. They will be just fine in the meanwhile.

I think 3 wins a year for Nelly and Jeeno should be a pretty attainable number. Although, I do believe I just saw a clip of Nelly saying "I feel like I don't have really anything left to prove to people, for like, ever." Sorry, but I kinda disagree kid. From a casual LPGA watching perspective, it probably looks like last year was just a lucky year.

It really does speak to expectations/potential and how close the "almosts" were, when Jeeno hitting Top 5's in 7 of 12 individual events has a vague feeling of underperforming at all to it.

Agree. 7 is an anomaly but so is zero for someone that won 7 last year.

this could be brutal on the girls.  11 out on the course so far and the best score is even .

Good start from Rose Zhang. Still surprised she didn't kick on after the last Solheim Cup.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I do not understand why Rose Z is pursuing her Stanford degree right now.  The main purpose of college is to land a lucrative and successful career.  She will never find a “regular” job that pays as much as she can make playing golf.  
 

It is admirable to pursue the degree but it’s strange to take resources, time and  focus away from her LPGA career.  She could always go back later when she is out of her prime golf years.

It was the Senior Open and they got atrocious weather - wind and rain.

I believe the forecast for this week doesn't predict much rain (some on Sunday) it is windy at the moment.

Your stated assumption about the "main purpose" of college is a bit over-generalized, all sorts of reasons why someone pursues higher education and all sorts of ways in which someone finds value in whatever they do. From my armchair watching the Open, I'll never second guess anyone who wants to get a degree, or further their education in any way they want. 

 

She says it is good for her character and personal development, I'd wager she has a good handle on what is good for her life.

1999 Open Championship winning score was 6 over.

 

 

2006 and 2007 US Open winning scores were 5 over.
