Advice appreciated

I was recently gifted a Titleist GT2 with the hzrdus black 6s shaft. It's still brand new in the wrapper but I don't think this is the right shaft for me.

I am probably going to take it back to the store for credit.

My current driver is a g400 lst with an ad di 7x and my current irons are ping i25s with tt dg ti x100s. My driver swing speed is around 110.

I like both my current driver released 2017 and irons released 2014 but understand they are getting old at this point despite having been well cared for.

The question becomes do I get fit for a new driver, probably a gt2 with a shaft upgrade, or just roll that credit into a new set of irons. Which would provide more impact upgrading my 11 year old irons or upgrading my 8 year old driver?

I've never been fit for either. My history of being fit is going to the golf store over multiple sessions and trying many different combinations until I found what worked.

For more insight, my irons I feel like I wouldn't ever leave the ti x100s. I would just pick new heads and get x100s in them but maybe there is a better driver shaft out there for me and I haven't had the means to try as many different options.

Driver. If you’re irons are working well, no need to chase improvement. It’s been said that if your driver is more than 5 years old, you can benefit from newer technology.

Also the GT2 is a more forgiving head, but can be at the expense of distance. If you are already playing a low spin driver, you may find more yards hidden in the GT3.

The AD-DI is a bit softer in the handle and firmer in the tip. Are you happy with your trajectory and launch right now? You can always get the same shaft in the Titleist, or even retip your existing shaft to put it in the GT3.

Or, if you feel your launch and distance can be tweaked, there is a vast cornucopia of shafts currently available. Based on the AD-DI, I think you should give the Cobra DA-Adapt LS driver a look, as one of the stock shafts (Lin-Q White) has a similar feel to the AD-DI, but is put in at no-charge. I went in this direction, and am very happy with the loading feel and stable tip.

My launch isn't bad but I would appreciate a little less left to right action the later I get into the rounds. It probably has to do with either how loose my swing gets or how tired I get. I still hit it 290yards with a 30 yard push fade but if I could optimize that to be 10 yards more online it would be worth it to do a shaft fitting. The ad di feels great but I do tend to lose them a little right sometimes the harder I swing.

When I lose the ball right, it is also usually because I’m tired, not pulling the club inside, and not getting the face closed at impact.

No shaft will fix that (unfortunately) unless your shaft is too light. Only solution is staying hydrated, eating some protein, and having a fitness regimen. And honestly, light coloured shirts and breathable socks make a difference.

Keep your irons and upgrade driver. Iron tech hasn't changed much over the years with the exception of hollow heads but those can be iffy when it comes to distance control depending on where you strike it on the face. If you like the G400 LST, you will most likely like/love the 440 LST as it's more forgiving, sounds/feels better, IMO and retains spin on toe balls. Just make sure to demo or get fit for driver in general. You may find another brand to come out on top besides Titleist.
