Do your clubs fit in your car trunk/boot ?

Hi,

 

With a new arrival in the family I’m looking at replacing our vehicles.

One of the main criteria is that my golf bag need to fit in the trunks without removing woods or putting the seats down.

 

What do you drive and does your bag fit in your trunk/boot ?

Looking for inspiration.

Chrysler 300.  Full cart bag and Stewart X9 Cart fits in the trunk.

Lexus ES 350.  Large bag fits fine.  
‘71 Volvo 1800E, with no spare tire, ping hoofer fits, large bag no.

Kia Sorrento, I’ve stacked 4 sets of clubs, suit cases and coolers for a golf trip. Look, embrace the minivan life. It will pay off one day. Used a minivan for all kinds of trips and children’s sporting events. Yes, you might end up as the neighborhood taxi. Just beg off claiming you have a round of golf to get to.

Miini Cooper Countryman.  I can fit the bag in just fine . . . IF I take out the driver and fairway woods and put them in at an angle.  Quite irritating!

Toyota sedan.  They fit.  Just.  (There's way more room, they're just snug if you lay them absolutely parallel to the opening.  

 

Chiming in to strongly suggest not keeping them in the trunk, if you get a lot of sunlight and heat on it.  Things get hot, here in SE TX.   Of course they're usually fine on trips to/from range & course; it's the leaving them in there that may lead to issues if you have poor epoxy bonds.  Or just use better epoxy.  Which I know...now.

Hyundai Santa Fe. Easily fits 2-4 sets of clubs, shoes, hats, and more.

BMW 535i. I do the same thing, before I even get interested in the car on the lot I ask the salesperson to open the trunk and I see if my clubs fit. In the case of this BMW they go in at an angle and my hand cart fits, as well

Mercedes C250 coupe. Bennington QO14 cart bag. And no 😒. Not really. Drives me nuts. Don't have to put the seats down but a driver ⅛" over standard length I would have to drop a seat down. To be fair, I only drive the car every other Sunday to golf or on days with inclement weather and I can't drive my motorcycle to work. But it needs to be mega inclement weather before I drive it to work.

Toyota prius and yes, it fits my clubs, cart and a bunch of other junk. I do have to finagle the bag into some cutouts, but it fits fine.

Toyota Highlander, tons of room, especially with the 2nd and 3rd row seat laid down. 3rd row is down most always.

I live in a moderate climate and my clubs are in my trunk all the time. I like the privacy of them being totally out of sight, unlike some vans or SUVs where someone can see your expensive clubs through a window.

Obviously no trunk. But I’ll never be without a truck again. That said…

 

I just rented a Ford expedition. Holy cow! 4 captains chairs, 3rd row for 3 more people. All 5 seats fold with the push of a button located just inside the rear hatch. 
 

4 people and golf clubs galore. If we still had kids at home that would be a tempting option.

Jeep Wrangler 2 door - fit fine but the first thing I do when a new one gets home is remove the back seat. Of course, zero babies. 😀
 

Subaru Forester - clubs fit just fine. Wish we’d had this one when we had little ones.

Ford F-250 Superduty crew cab. I'm usually the designated driver for road trips as everything fits in the bed. When I'm driving by myself I'll grab my wife's Lexus RX350 as it's better on gas and easier to park. That actually would be a good small family vehicle as it has plenty of room inside and the clubs fit in the hatchback.

I have a long commute, so I picked up a cheap Lexus CT200h that had been overhauled by the local Lexus dealer.  Currently has 177k miles and runs like a top.  Small, but a hatchback, and my clubs do fit without taking the woods out.  I've been lucky to fit my clubs in every car I've owned - even my old NA Miata.  Carrying a Sunday bag helps as stand mechanisms take up space 🙂

modern cars are growing and growing, but the trunk size is going down and down. even large looking SUVs have trunk sizes that are not in relation to their massive total size. 

 

if kids are arriving yo need to carry buggies and a lot of stuff. choose a car where the trunk is wide enough that the golf bag fits directly behind the rear seats. Be careful with the driver. if the golf bag needs to lie diagonal, the trunk does not fit... 

 

I have 2 children and an older standard Mercedes E Class station wagon, it works fine. the same in new version, no f*ckn way.

Still driving a BMW 1 Series Coupé, so basically a 2 door sedan. 

 

Motocaddy Aquaflex Hybrid bag and Motocaddy M5 GPS trolley fit in, just with some cleaver packing. Also got room for the battery and a bag full of balls, gloves, shoes etc. Can't fit anything else in with that lot in there, so anything else needs to go in the back seat. 

 

However with enough determination you can fit golf clubs in any car. I've seen people fit everything in Porsche Boxsters, Lotus Elises, Ferraris etc.

I have a Honda Z-RV, don’t know if that what it’s called in the US. It’s a nice car but I have to drop the back seats to get more than one set in. I can put my bag and trolley in though just in the trunk space.

My previous car was an Audi A5, sport back. It could fit my cart bag (ping dlx/ now a motocaddy pro series) as well as the older S1 pro electric trolley (I did use to remove the wheels however, but I could leave one of the wheels on if I wanted to). 

 

Could also put my shoes etc in the boot just would of been put on top of the bag. I drive the Audi Q2 now instead (can fit my carry bag a titleist stadry 4) but that's about it. exchanged as she wouldn't drive my larger vehicle. Personally my next car will be a type of van or estate vehicle

Subaru Solterra - wide boot so don’t have to take the driver out. There’s 3 golf bags in this picture, but easily room for one more. 😅 Helps when we all carry. Also - lots of room for 4 adults.

 

Edit : Notice you're in France so we get the same types of cars. Owned an Outback previously and the golf bag just went straight it. I've got 3 kids and a dog, and a stationwagon utilzes interior space much better than the crossover SUV's. BUT - Rented a Peugeot 5008 once - tons of room in there. Seriously thinking of getting an ID Buzz when the lease is up on the Subie next year.

as said: Mercedes E Class Version S212 T Modell, S211 was very similar, S213 is smaller and the new S214 is smaller again.

@vtpachyderm I did try the ID Buzz last month as GTx Version, not bad at all, but for daily use? The ID7 touring GTx did suit my eayes more.
