Videotaped practice

Has or does anyone tape their lessons or practice sessions, if so how has it worked for you? :)

Actually, I plan on taping my practice tommorow.

 

I was given the new Ledbetter DVD's that comes with the V1 software, and I can't wait to see what the h*ll I'm doing wrong :) !!!!

 

I've only seen myself on video once, and for a short amount of time. I know there many things I need to work on, but I hope to *see* the main things clearly.

i have a video option on my digi cam and it works just fine...but it definitely opens your eyes on what you're doing vs what you think/feel you're doing...

I've been videotaping and working on my swing for the last year and a half, and I've dropped from a 5 (which I'd been at for 20+ years) to a 0. Bear in mind, though, that it takes a lot of study and a fairly good understanding of the swing to "do it yourself" (how's that saying go? He who acts as his own lawyer has a fool for a client?). For instance, I could clearly see that I was sliding, but it took 6 months of futile effort and a lot of research into the setup and pivot motion before I realized there were flaws in my setup that was the main culprit. One or two trips to a competent pro and some practice probably would have fixed it.

 

It is rewarding to see your swing change for the better, though - good luck!

Yeah, I thot my swing looked like Tiger's until I saw it on video, very humbling :) So I bought a camcorder this week and will be using it to tape my upcoming lessons.

I know what you mean...when I first saw myself I thought..."No Way! That's not me!" It is very humbling...what you feel and what you see can be two very different things.

 

Just taped some range time during lunch, and I can't wait to get home and see how bad I really am!!!

Is there a place here where you can post videos? At least a 2-3 second clip?

:) Thats why I stopped buying books, trng aides, dvd's and taking tips from playing partners and friends, Ill only listen to the couach Im starting to use. The mags are good for "where am I going to play on my next vacation". :cheesy:

Yes i agree 100% with you,i have been playing for 10+ yrs and bought a camcorder about 4yrs ago. It was the best and worst thing i have ever done, if you are a perfectionist be careful recording your swing :wave: because what you think your doing with it as opposed to what is really happening might put you in the nut house :) . But don't let that scare you off because you will learn and see things in your swing that will help you get the flaws out and be a more consistent ball striker.But like the guy above me said, study of the swing no joke :cheesy:.Even when i seen what i was doing wrong, fixing it was another animal.One of the best lessons i ever took was 10min long(ie) www.golftech.com record your swing with sensors on your body and break it down on the computer with a golf pro, takes the guess work out of it.Defiantly worth checking out,since then i haven't recorded my swing since.What ever way you go best of luck.technology it's a wonderful thing :stop:
