He is a miserable, sour, bitter, self opinionated, lazy, ignorant, jealous, know it all, obnoxious individual.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel. Why would anyone would bothers to quote such garbage as this.

Do you know Johnny Miller personally? How do you know these things about him or are you just guessing or is this "just" your opinion. Either way, we really don't care to have our members post things such as what you've posted, it serves no purpose what so ever.

Miller is an a**hole. The stuff he says..."is that necessary" after tiger just hit his second on #4. What the hell do you mean Johnny, "is that necessary?" He needs to realize and cope with the fact that Tiger has more talent in his left toenail that Miller ever had in his entire body. He is such a ******.

Another prime post, no one is saying you have to like Johnny Miller but to call someone names that you don't know is a bit over the top, and totally uncalled for. Grow Up!

Mr Parnoid,

Compared to Millers comment on Mediate - "looks like the guy who cleans Tigers Pool" & "Guys with a name like Rocco, don't win majors" at least i'm not a racist or elitist snob. His comments time after time appear to denigrate anyone who might win an US Open, or any tournament come to that. If he is going make abnoxious comments like that he deserves anything I throw his way.

Not if you plan to stay an active member of the forum. Double-check the rules:

  • No foul language. Keep it clean.

edit: wrong rule, that's more for "SteelPride's" comment. shoulda gone with:

  • While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.

it's one thing to take issue with what the guy says within the scope of his job, but it's an entirely different thing to attack the person, especially with petty name calling.

I don't like Johnny Miller either, but he's much better than Berman. God he was awful. Seriously the marshals/moderators on these forums need to chill out. This is what forums are for: opinion. The person has said nothing to you, so why would you say grow up, talk about totally uncalled for.

Its the moderators jobs to keep things civil and in accordance of the rules of the board. Some of the posts here are way more off base than Miller's comments and I highly doubt many here are getting paid a substantial amount of money from NBC for on air commentary. It seems like some of you guys are hanging on every word he says instead of watching the tournament.

I've learned long ago that if you don't like the commentary then just turn down the volume and watch one of the best tournaments this year.

The fact that Miller creates such animosity among some of you haters tells me he is doing his job better than anyone on the game. He reminds me a lot of Howard Cosell in the 1970's, at the time you either loved the guy or hated him because he was so obnoxious. The fact of the matter is the more that people hated him the more they listened to him just so they could complain about him. I think the worst announcers are the ones you either cant remember(1/2 the guys on the Golf Channel), cant really remember what they said(most of the guys on network TV), or they just dont know the game(Berman). The fact is you remember what he says more than anyone on TV, which is EXACTLY what NBC and JM want.

For those of you that let JM get under your skin, guess what? He wins! You lose! ha ha ha ha. For this very reason he is the best in the business.

PS. all these personal attacks against Miller are extremley immature, to the point of the people who left them have lost total credibility.

Miller called Tigers putt early in the round, saying something like watch this putt it might be for the championship later.

you are referring to karlsons putt, which was not early in the round and it was not from the same angle

True... but he also said that about Petterson's putt and a couple others. Seems that if anyone had a put in any 8 directions around the hole that they showed, he said "watch this putt it might be for the championship later".

I'm just glad I finally have a day off tomorrow so I can get "torqued" watching the playoff, drinking a few...

He said it earlier in the day also. I don't remember who was putting, but it was in the same area as Tiger's putt.

Is it possible for Jonny Miller to say anything negative about Tiger Woods? His sicking bias caused me to turn the volume off on my television. Not once did Jonny compliment Lee Westwood or Mediate for impressive or noteworthy shots. The coverage made me sick. I would like others to comment..... I'm sure this topic has been brought up in the past so I apologize if I'm recycling material. I'm just so frustrated with Jonny and the rest of the NBC crew......

Rumor has it, now that gay marriages are allowed in California, Miller now wants to court Tiger.

Back a few years ago, I use to defend Miller, saying that he was more candid than others. No more. Add me to the long list of guys that have had it with him.

If he made that "he looks like someone that should be cleaning Tiger Wood's pool" the other way around, he loses his job. He makes it with Tiger being the one with the pool and he gets by. My takeaway (seeing few comments in protest to this comment) is that it's okay to take a shot of the guy of Italian ethnic background, growing up with a father that had a job as a barber and playing public links golf.

Some will tell me to 'lighten up' it was just a joke. But I think that much truth is said in jest. If you are tall, thin and fair haired, you're part of Johnny's club. If not, stop laughing, cause he doesn't think much of you.

Take today's telling comment of those that are rooting for Rocco. Public golf types. "Everyday guys" says Miller.

What the heck are "everyday guys? Guys that work every day? Guys that work while Johnny is playing golf?

How telling that Johnny knows who is rooting for Tiger (private club players) versus Rocco (public link hackers). Did he take a poll? Well, this is one WASP private club guy that's rooting for Rocco.

Shame on you Miller.

Is Miller sponsored by a car company not named Buick? Not that I care on way or the other, but the PGA tour must not be very happy with the fact a person who hadn't watched golf before today would have learned that Woods has won the "San Diego Open" many times, but would have no idea the tournament is referred to as the Buick Invitational.

While NBC does not have those broadcastrights, they do have tour events, and I can't imagine some people being too happy about that. I'd prefer they go back to non-corporate names, but so long as you don't do the thing where the previous 29 tournaments were the Doral-Ryder Open instantly become Genuity Championships, I'm ok with the corpoate names since that is where the money is coming from.

Just foudn it odd Miller would refer to it as the San Diego Open as often as he did.

I agree. I thought Miller has some insightful comments at times but the comments about Rocco (pool cleaner) were off base. I am half-Italian American (really just an American) but Miller's comments were not that big a deal.

I think Johnny was trying to say that Rocco was an average guy that the average Joe could cheer for and we did. A lot of working class or fairly poor guys became great players like Byron Nelson, Langer and Hogan came from a modest backgrounds. I will give Johnny a mulligan.

Rocco is a gem. He has millions of people who are now fans because of his chatty and friendly nature.

I loved this Open with Rocco and the TPC when another average Joe in Paul Guydos as they battled to win. It is nice to see the little guy still has a chance against the big stars.

I have always had respect for Johnny Miller he earned it many years ago on the fairways and has done nothing to change that.

Do I agree with everything he says of course not but I admire him for having the guts to say it.

There is a person in that booth that grinds my nerves that his partner whats his name (dan hicks ) that dude really needs to take a tranquilizer. He over states everything he says and repeats himself constantly

i heard the "clean the pool" comment and thought it was a little inappropriate. then today at lunch a female coworker was saying she didnt like it at all and was thinking about writing to NBC about it.

we got talking and she said "what if that comment had been made in reverse? what if he said tiger was the pool cleaner? it would have been a racist remark and he might have gotten suspended like Kelly Tilghman did". Its not a bad point. kelly's comment was less degrading than Miller's and meant in fun, and hers wasnt even an insult where his was!

he is really getting bad. i love his swing commentary and analysis, but his self centered bow to tiger comments are getting OLD!

I like Miller.

I second that notion. Every time there is a survey he is the most favorite and also voted the least favorite broadcaster. You guys should really stop calling him an Word not allowedhole. He is a great guy. I've met him a few times. Really down to Earth. Remember after his first telecast, he was so sorry about calling, I think it was Peter Jacobsen, a choke, that he almost quit. He is honest, sometimes to a fault but he is better at his craft that anyone that I can remember.
