I like Miller.

I second that notion. Every time there is a survey he is the most favorite and also voted the least favorite broadcaster. You guys should really stop calling him an Word not allowedhole. He is a great guy. I've met him a few times. Really down to Earth. Remember after his first telecast, he was so sorry about calling, I think it was Peter Jacobsen, a choke, that he almost quit. He is honest, sometimes to a fault but he is better at his craft that anyone that I can remember.

I pretty much dissagree with everything you have said because I have met him too and he is a pompas Word not allowed!. And he must have gotten over that first one pretty quickly because he continues to do the same or worse every time he is on. If I had a dime for every time he said a shot was the worst he's ever seen I would have paid my car off long ago......

but alas this gets us nowhere. He's gonna be there like it or not so we just have to deal with it. I dislike him so much now that I can't even summon the energy for a proper rant.

I'm done waisting my time hating the guy. Screw it i'll just turn the volume down

I actually listened to him in this US Open, and by the end of it I was sick of him comparing himself to Tiger...every time they plugged to him he referred to himself at least once. I'd be happy enough if he just talked about wat's happening now in the tournament, not wat happened 40 years ago. I've found the best commentators, in all sports, are the one's that laugh, keep up a good repore and actually talk about the game and what's going on off camera

Hi eveyone i'll share this one with you because not many people know about it. Forgive me if i dont mention dates her but i can find that out if anyone is interested. Years ago when miller was at his peak he was over here in Scotland, i'm sure it was for an open. He played a warm match at Royal Dornoch against a local amateur who was a scratch golfer and dominated the local scene. Royal Dornoch is a links course and the local guy, who was a farmer gave Miller a serious lesson on links golf. After the match Miller asked him why he was working for living and said he should turn pro and try his luck on the tour. The guy said to Miller he thought about it but could'nt because his father told him he had to take over the buisness and said he would'nt make it anyway!. So there you go Miller at his peak got pumped in match play against a Scottish farmer. Bet he does'nt bring that up much!

Ally.

Johnny Miller does have the "TOUR" experience and had the skills to be at the top for a while.

His words are marinated with the seasoning that only comes from playing at pro-level competition golf.

But the truth is he's BITTER.

He's a "has been". I can't say he's a "never was" because he's won championships.

But his accomplishments will be overshadowed.

There are some Johnny Miller nut-huggers out there that will defend him and whip out the highlight reel, but that's another matter.

In the past, i've read his articles. I've watched and listened to his commentating.

The most recent US Open was where i really had enough of him.

The worst being how he could "relate" to Tiger playing through the pain in his left knee.

"when i had knee surgery..." "after i had knee surgery..."

Johnny Miller's fat arse can't relate to ANYTHING Tiger went through during the US Open.

His delivery of "funny comments" is horrible.

He's getting flak for the comments he made about Mediate. Publicly apologizing for his "pool boy" and "with a name like rocco" comments.

And his constant reference to golf when he used to play gets VERY old.

"i would've loved to played in these types of conditions..."

When Tiger sunk that last putt on Saturday to take the lead, Miller was saying Tiger's aiming too wide to the left... seconds later it drops in the hole.

He likes calling shots that are already in the air on its way to the rough. He gets those right most of the time. But hey, a monkey could call that.

He should NOT be getting as much time with the mic as he does.

He's just not in the same league of Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, or Tiger Woods.

Man up and just accept it. Announce and comment on how it is, not how it should have been, would have been, or could have been... for you.

If his announcing was as good as his golf game, it wouldn't be this much of an issue to me.

But his attitude is what ruins it for me.

I have no idea why anyone thinks he is bitter. Johnny is simply not afraid to be wrong.

He had the same type of surgery that Tiger had two days before Tiger did, I think this would make it easty to relate.

Of course not any of us knew the extent of Tigers knee problems you see Tiger was too busy lying to us and telling us how good his rehab was going.

I'm getting sick of all this crap about "He isn't afraid to tell it like it is". What the hell does that mean anyway? He isn't a soldier. He is a friggin' golf analyst for pete's sake. All he is doing is sitting in a tower looking at a TV screen just like you are. Except he has to make all these A-hole remarks about a player's shot, or what he looks like, or how much better he would have done. Nothing but cutdowns for 4 hrs. If you think piling on a player for hitting a bad shot is "telling it like it is", the you are just like him. Do you really need JM telling you that a player just hit a bad shot? Do you really? You can't see with your own eyes that the shot was hit poorly? Pulled? Mis read putt? He is like that guy in group of guys that get in a fight and after the poor guy is down, then JM comes in and gives him a final punch, after he sat back and let all his buddies do the hard work. I think he is a coward hiding behind this "tell it like it is" act. He is a certified butt clown. Why people like him I will never know. Probably the same type of people who refuse to get out of the left passing lane doing 65mph holding 30 cars up.

He is bitter. It doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks, he will still be an elitist jerk, pompas, negative, and a legend in his own mind. "I am Johnny Miller, and I'm an A-hole." I dread the events that NBC telecasts. It sucks too, b/c he ruins the Open, US Am, and the Players. Every year I pray that somebody will shoot a 62 in the final round of the US Open so he will no longer have any juice.

I can't wait until he gets let go or he dies. That can't come soon enough. All 5 people at his funeral will probably feel the same way.

That's pretty bitter, and I'm not a JM fan.

He wasn't lying to anybody smart guy...Unlike you're buddy johnny, He was trying to not make the whole thing about him so that the usga could get some repect for what most of the players deemed a fantastic setup for the open. If you were paying attention, as soon as it was over and he had seen his doctors he made a statement telling all. If the same injury would have happened to miller during his prime he would never win again but would still be talking about how great he is...That will not be the case with tiger. I can only hope that the comments he made about rocco get totally blown out of proportion and the network fires him...That would be awesome

I remember back in the '80s and '90s, one of the Mets baseball team's TV announcers was Tim McCarver. McCarver ticked off many many people for his style of color commentary. He used an educational approach. He explained everything--how a double-play worked, how to bunt, strategy, the history of the catcher's mitt....you name it.

A lot of fans hated it. "He's treating us like dummies!" they roared. But for my sons who were just learning baseball, it was eye-opening and very enjoyable. I loved his style, too.

Tim McCarver was and is good for sports, just like Johnny Miller is. McCarver was a pro player, and Miller is a golf legend. You don't have to be the best player to be the best announcer, you just have to seriously know the game. And the game is made up of good shots and bad ones. Golf, frankly, is mostly bad ones.

Miller is great. Sometimes, I agree, that he loses his balance sometimes, forgetting that the audience wants a positive experience, but I have no complaints with him so far this season. He has plenty of good things to say about the players and the courses. And, BTW, how on earth can anyone rip Miller for mentioning Oakmont? Who knows the course better? Who has earned the right to talk about it more?

Faldo is on the other side of this coin. He's bland and adds very little except his accept. Kelly brings him down even further by not engaging him in true conversation that we can all learn from or be entertained by. When I watch them, I feel like I'm at a boring tea party.

My wishes: transfer Kelly out of final-round coverage, put Peter Jacobson or someone like him in the booth with saggy Faldo, transfer Nobilo to equipment reviews, and let Dottie Pepper do whatever she wants to do--she's great.
