Miura Irons - Custom Options

Question for those in the know...

My Bridgestone J's went back in the bag a couple of years ago and although I'm happy with them, the ho in me is always looking at new things.

It's going to take something special to replace them but I've been casting my eye over the Miura CB-301's for a while now. They're exactly what I'm looking for in a set of irons but I've got a bit of an issue. I don't like where it says F O R G E D across the top of the head and I'm not keen on the CB-301 stamp either.

Is there a way of getting a completely custom order from Miura which includes the removal of these stamps? (or not putting them on in the first place!). I believe I've read somewhere that they offer a service similar to what the guys at Macgregor are doing (bounce/lie/loft/grind options) but does this extend to what the finished head looks like?

Any info is much appreciated guys.

P.S I'd quite like to know if I have to sell my child to pay for this sort of service as well.

Villa, I think you know of Precision Golf anyway, but give them a call. I know they (or at least James) went to the Miura factory last year and even got to shake the man's hand. They are probably as well placed as anyone in the UK to answer the question. Might only require a couple of limbs from your first-born....

I'll be in contact with Simon and James at Precision. There's also a facility on Miura's website to send them an e-mail so I'll be firing that off as well.

 

I remember reading something on here about this sort of service being available but I can't remember who posted it or when it was. I'm sure there's someone on here with close links to Miura or someone with additional info.

You might want to try lasta golf in Japan as well - they offer customised Miura equipment from the factory, e.g. whatever-you-want wedge lofts, but no idea whether that would extend to custom stampings.

No harm in asking though.

 

I've bought from them before; they respond quickly and were straight forward to deal with.

I got some info last night that I can have this process done but it will cost me a fortune! Based on the figures I was given it's just not worth it for something cosmetic.

 

It'd be cheaper to buy a set off the rack and have them refinished minus the stamps.
