New Irons Coming from Wilson?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody out there know?
With the Di7 irons going on sale just about everywhere recently, does anybody know if Wilson is coming out with a replacement(for example, a Di8 iron)? I know a new forged iron is on the way.
Unfortunatley, there's not as much info out there on Wilson compared to the other big names, like Callaway, TM...etc. :partytime2:

True , will be a boxed set , very limited numbers and each set will be numbered . STUNNING iron . Just no market for it in the wilson range , if mizuno were to release that club they would fly off the shelves !!

stuart .

Ah... last time I checked... Mizuno brought out the MP-100... the ones in a glass case about a year to two years ago and last time I looked, Galaxy & Golfsmith couldn't give them away! Being a Wilson Tech Rep, Wilson still has the big name they had years ago in the blade market, they just have to find a way to get around Mizuno and others! Little do people know, the FI-5 sold fairly well!

The new blades are already highly anticipated and having D.J. Trahan as the face of the iron is only making them look even better! The guy is playing out of his mind right now and they are starting to see some tv time which is awesome! I already have mine on order and can't wait for them to show up!

Happy to see that the limited retail run of FG59's did not deviate from the Protos in the Golf Monthly article from last month save for the retail with the "Tour Blade" stamp and the Protos with a "Tour Grind" Stamp.

I know all these new irons are fun to look at. New TM, Callaway, Wilson blaes. My thought is as long as Mizuno is making blades...why would you consider anything other than them. A true players company Hands Down!!

So you are saying that just because one company makes a good product we shouldn't consider anything but their product?

BTW, how many majors have Mizuno irons won over the years? Wilson has won 59, which I believe is the most of any club manufacturer. So, if that's the case, as long as Wilson is making blades, why would you consider anything other than them. A true players company Hands Down. :partytime2:

Sweet. Real beauties.

I love my Wilson putter. :partytime2: I am also considering Di7s. These blades remind me of my circa 1972 Wilson Dynapower irons and I also have the persim Wilson woods in a Wilson bag. I should take them out and play with them. I learned how to play around 1980 with them.

Wilson always gives you a lot of bang for the buck. I was a college level tennis player and played Wilson.

Don't really care about Pros or majors, and the clubs used. Good Luck! and buy those Wilson blades. Maybe one day we'll met up at a course, and you can become another one of my human ATM's.

I want a set of these. How do I get them?

For the interested, they are already available on Wison's European site. They look great and I want a set. Did I mention that?

Ouch... after reading more it says they are available in limited quantities in a commemorative box. I want to play the damn things, not pay twice what they are worth to hang on a wall! I hope they are reasonably priced...

[edit:]

Okay drummerboy I see I am a bit slow today. Still, I'm going to be a tad unhappy if they are priced for display and not play.

I spoke to a Wilson rep last week. The release date for Europe and the USA are different. Europe has started to take pre-orders, I think the USA launch will be mid to late July. The cost in Europe is 899 Euros, so don't expect these irons to be affordable to the average Joe. On a side note Wilson sent this out last night: You can register to win a set of Pi7 irons!!

I just don't get it. I know Wilson has people on staff who know more than I do about such things, but people want these irons. They not only commemorate the old irons, they recreate them and that seem to be what people want. Look at MacGregor.

It seems to me if Wilson is trying to recreate the brand bringing their bread and butter to the table, especially when there is a demand, is the way to do it.

I don't want plastic coated, big badged irons. That is why I liked my Pi5's so much. Just a clean, business tool to play golf.
