J.A.T. Raw?????

As I am the only one I know with a "raw" JAT, I get a few suggestions as to what I should do with it. It is my gamer and it does work well. The raw finish is great for avoiding any glare or reflections. My buddy's say "raw is for Vokey's and not Cameron's". I don't trust my buddy's since they are my opponents. What say yee wise sages of Golfwrx. Get it finished or keep it "Raw"

Get some sort of finish on it before it gets bad pitting on it. You don't want to ruin it.

I would do it in gun blue. Too nice to let rust. :)

The topline would be the worst for glare I bet. You could do it satin and the rest shiny.

Personally, I've never seen the beauty in rusty clubs. I'd get a nice low-maintenance black finish and continue using it to run over your friends.

Dude that putter looks like Word not allowed. Get it refinished if for no other reason than to protect it from degrading further. Raw is fine on wedges as we expect them to wear out eventually......a limited edition Cameron can be used and admired for a long, long time. If I were you I'd sent it back to Cameron for a total overhaul and be proud to keep it as your gamer.

IF you are not really worried about the original look than Lamont would take care of this bad boy. I would really like to see this at the studio. It would come back with that new car smell. LOL

I actually ruined this putter myself. I purchased it new for about $175 back when they came out (2001 or 2002?), and it was black at the time. Over the first couple of years it developed a few small rust spots, so I decided I would do something about it. I went to a hardware store and asked about rust removal and the old man told me "nothing works like naval jelly". So I bought a can, went down in the basement and coated the putter with the jelly. It is powerful stuff and it removed the rust spots instantly. It also removed every speck of the black finish. For some reason it did not impact the paint fill. The putter was clean as a whistle and looked pretty good. The next day I played with it on a humid day, and put it away for a couple weeks. When I played again the putter was 100% rusted. I played with it and putted well, so I have left the putter that way the last 4 seasons and it rotates with a newport 2 when it is misbehaving. As far as $25 dollars for a Cameron JAT goes, some one could have picked it up for that. We had to move to another state early this year and my wife held a garage sale. I had already moved to our new location so she ran the sale. She sold a bunch of stuff and I was surprised when she told me how low the proceeds were. When the movers b unpacked I noticed some price tags on some of my golf stuff. There was a my Speeder 757 pull out with a $5 price tag, the JAT had a $25 tag on it and a set of ping eye twos had a $50 price tag. I asked my wife what the deal was with the price tags, and she said those were the left overs from the garage sale that no one wanted. (Someone did purchase our John Deere for $300!). I love my wife, but I still shake my head about that garage sale. I just don't ask about anything else I have been unable to find.

Update 16 years later.   I left the putter raw and have gamed it about half the time over the last 16 years.  Still looks the same, no pitting.  I assume the pitting begins sometime a few more decades down the road.  Still feels the same, still yips on right breaking pressure putts……
