Let us not forget that Stricker and Mahan paired very well together at the Presidents Cup.

Didn't know in the 1st place. Wots the President's cup anyway, is that like Ice Hockey or something?

It's a bit like the Seve Trophy, except with a much better class of golfers.

Kool, if there a better class of golfers, why do they keep losing?

You won't catch me quoting results in the Seve trophy as a form guide to the Ryder Cup either..................

I must say that I (and most golf fans) absolutely love the long ball so watching JB is going to be fun. Although rooting for Euro, i want to see him bomb it all over. Lets see if he can handle the pressure. Kenny should know the course well enough to do well...although with his decision to skip the open has dropped my opinion of him a few notches....the game originated over there and he skips it ...sad....hunter mahan is a bit outspoken as one of the flashy new young guns and i like him and will watch his matches closely..

PS but euro's seem to have an edge...when the scroll of announcements went by regarding past ryder cup experience there were so many newbies on US side that the betting will be on europe..and I still think they win...but it may be closer than alot think.

I like faldo...but man is he going to be super smug if he wins, but he is closesly matched by azinger in that dept.

Why are you cheering for Europe, where is your North American pride? lol

I was thinking the same thing...Why are you not rooting for US when you live in N. America. We are friends and allies/neighbors? Just curious? :swoon2:

I think it will be a lot closer of a contest than people think. If the US can get off to a better start then I think it will interesting. I think having so many rookies will actually be a benefit to the US. AK; Mahan and JB might really be factors with their fire and fearless attitudes. The US needed a youth infusion into their lineup. I am hoping to see a AK v.s. Sergio in singles that will be fun to watch.

I think the underdog status of the US will help them along with the lack of respect they have recieved by the Media.

well when it was just against the UK we seldom lost that only happened when we allowed you to go get help :swoon2:

come I am just kidding I think its a lot fairer now and more interesting why we have lost in the past I am not sure mostly I blame it on showboat idiot Captains

But I think it ends this year in Kentucky eventhough I am not too sure about Zingers picks I have a real good feeling.

YOu have to read my first post. A couple people tongue in cheek replied to my 2nd, look back a few posts and you can see why as I explain it there. My second one was just my thoughts on the Us. To keep it short, i used to cheer for the US. When justing leonard went nuts prancing all over the green while the euro's looked on in shock as they still had a putt, i switched to the Euro's.

I love meeting people from the US. I find them more outgoing and outspoken than us cdn's. Your passion for just having fun is admirable. We head each yr to a different state to catch a kenny chesney tour date (last yr was pittsburgh pa, cleveland OH before that) and the people are just so easy to talk to and out to have fun.

Put the same event in canada and the passion would not be there. A perfect example was the buffalo bills playing in toronto, tailgaiting was illegal, celebrating was in a small designated area?

But after the JL incident i switched and am sorry i root for europe. Good luck though.

I know I'm being a pedant but the Ryder Cup has never been played against just the UK. I think you'll find it's Great Britain and Ireland which is a different mix of countries. But hey the US has a grown a much larger golfing population and for many years the Ryder Cup was a non event.

For the record my head says the US will win comfortably this time. But I'll still be rooting for my team. I just hope hope games will be played with sportsmanship in mind. Given Azingers track record at Q-School and previous Ryder Cups, I'm not sure that will happen, I'd hate any controvery to overshadow a US victory again, it spoils it for me.

Chad Campbell brings some past ryder cup experience but I would have liked to see Rocco as well.

What experience? Experience at getting your butt kicked? I think he would have been better going with a Ryder Cup Rookie, or Rocco, at least someone who can putt on a consistant basis. Campbell is a good ball striker, but ball striking does not win 18 hole matches, makeing putts and scrambleing does.

For those that say Europe has a stronger team, maybe.......but how many times have all the "experts"said the USA has a way stronger team on paper and then watch them get killed. This Ryder Cup will be about which TEAM plays the best, personally I thnk the teams are pretty evenly matched "on paper".

Ping G400 Testing G410.  10.5 set at small -
Ping G410 3, 5 and 7 wood

Ping G410 5 hybrid-not much use.
Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal. 5-G
Vokey 54.10, 2009 58.12 M, Testing TM MG2 60* TW grind and MG3 56* TW grind.  Or Ping Glide Stealth, 54,58 SS.
Odyssey Pro #1 black
Hoofer, Ecco, Bushnell
ProV1x-mostly

Rocco has not done anything except play well at Muirfield and US Open. Other than that he not done anything. Why would they have him except comic relief? At least chad has been playing well all year for the most part...

I don't know what other choices Zinger had, the pickens' were slim....

Stricker....a no brainer selection, heck even Faldo would of picked him!

Mahan....one of the best ball strikers in the business but is having an off-year with the flatstick ...he paired very well with Stricker in the President's Cup ...IMHO he has the game & fire to win a major someday ....played well in the Euro match play (or whatever it's called) last fall where IIRC he beat Rose & lost a close match to a white-hot Cabrera

Holmes.... this can be either a homerun or a strikeout pick....this guy is inconsistent but Zinger had to take a chance simply because he's otherwise outmanned by the Euro's

Campbell.... as stated above his stats are outstanding ...plus his recent form is good... but he's never impressed me in match play ....is his head in the game with the expected birth of his child this week?

Trahan.... I would of picked him over Campbell

Verplank.... surprised that Zinger never considered him, especially since the USA has 6 rookies & Scott has an outstanding Ryder Cup record.... on a TGC interview Scott said he hasn't spoken with Zinger in months; what's up with that?

it really doesn't matter, the euros win it all. Regardless. Just something about playing their hearts out as a team. The US for some strange reason typically comes in as a bunch of individuals whereas the Euros somehow become a cohesive unit playing with huge passion.

I used to root for the US but after that disgusting display with Justin Leonard jumping around on a green along with fellow players and player wives when.....

....the euros still had a putt....bothered me as golf is a sport of gentlemen (sorry gentlewoman too...is that a word?).

Pre-celebrating...along with jumping all over a guys line....was so over the top and rude I started rooting for the euro's....besides as a canadian you kind of feel like an unofficial euro....

I was embarrassed by that breach of etiquette as well, but I don't think anything would have been different if the roles had been reversed. I still hate seeing the replay though... Once JL realized what was happening, he tried to get everyone off, but it was too late. Ugh. Inborn American hot-bloodedness? Maybe. I still think if the roles were reversed it would have looked the same. Go USA!!

I also think that Woody Austin should have made the team! Especially over JB.

Why? He doesn't have a win this year, (J.B. has 1), fewer top-10s, less money, less FedEx Cup points, etc. I think he probably does have more Ryder Cup points and is higher in the world ranking, but that's balanced out by the fact that the guy is a TOTAL moron (sorry...he is). I don't think he should ever be allowed to represent the country again for all the crap he talks about Tiger ever chance he gets. I can't for the life of me figure out why people like this guy.

Because JB is garbage. His only Match Play experience is learning to fold like a lawn chair under pressure. Don't tell me that it was because it was Tiger, the guy just does not have the experience. If it were my team I would rather have the fire of Woody then the inexperience of JB.
