Help me choose a driver

I'm probably in the market for a new driver. Currently I have a Ping Rapture 10.5 with a Fujikura E Fit On 370 X-stiff. I like the driver and have been hitting it good. It's certainly not the longest driver. I'm being outdriven by people that are 1-2 irons shorter than I am. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me. I carry the ball a long way, but get very little roll. I'm using an X flex to eliminate the hook, but is the X flex causing me a loss in distance? I have about a 110 mph driver swing. I want to flatten my ball flight out some to gain some roll (even 6-10 yards of roll would be nice) and I probably need to lower the spin rate. When my swing is a little off (like this week at the Mid-Am dammit!) I tend to put a lot of spin on the ball and lose a ton of distance.

Any suggestions for a shaft/head combo? Stiff flex or x flex? Should I just go get on a launch monitor again and report back? I don't keep up with technology like most of you, thanks for the help.

go to their web site for a dealer near you. These are amazing drivers! Not many know/use them because they are not sold in normal golf shops. However, anyone that has used one, LOVES them.

Personally i would get something with less loft. That 10.5 rapture is more likely 12-13 deg so there is no wonder you are hitting it too high. Try the new rapture V2, just go for the 9 or even 7.5 head. This is a low spin head and along with an low spin shaft, should help you get the distance you want. Its hard to say weather the X is the right shaft for you. At 110mph you could be an X or an S depending on how you load the club, tempo etc. The fit on 370 is pretty low launch and spin and pretty stout from what i have heard.

If you are a Ping guy, try the G10 with the stock S TFC shaft. This shaft actually plays X at a 68gram weight. I think the E370 X is too stiff for you. Something like the Rombax 7x07, ACCRA AXIV XT70, OBAN Revenge 7, etc. It really is all about the shaft as every driver is pretty much up to max specs on COR, size, MOI, etc. so pick one you like and go get the right shaft put in it to reduce spin and get you more distance.

I agree that it's mainly the shaft these days. I like Ping stuff, but last I checked thay aren't paying me. :good: I just want the best combo I can find for distance and accuracy. I don't mind giving up some distance for accuracy, but it was rediculous the way I was getting out driven this week. I was 3 clubs longer than this one guy with my irons, but he was hitting it 20 by me everytime!

bridgestone j33 460 9.5* with a stout stiff flex shaft. I would try a pro launch red or a grafalloy blue (non pro launch). Just an educated guess though. If you are willing to spend a little more and want a shaft with better feel try a whiteboard in it.
