sneek peek of my new putter

my own design (updated pics, post #44)she's done!!!

She's still in the process....I designed this putter on a CAD system a couple of months ago....I Just got word that the face and the hole were milled and additional weight was taken from the bottom.....As we speek she's with the engraver...Next she'll get a XXX black finish and a UST frequency filtered putter shaft and a black Iomic midsize....
So what do you think???

pretty cool...what kind of neck (if any) do you plan on using?

what weight? not a criticism but it looks heavy.

 

shaft? long/mid slant? center balanced?

 

I like the rear and stance view - front looks a little bulky but hard to say from the pictures.

 

Would love to try it out. :-)

When those pics were taken the putter weighed 370g....I had Emachine shop mill the putter....When I designed it I didn't know where the hole should go, I didn't know how deep and I didn't know if it needed to be at an angle, so I left that part to someone who would know. The putter is in the hands of Kevin at colbert putter plating and his milling guy and his engraver....The putter will be faced balanced when finished and our target weight is 355g......here are a few CAD drawings... One showing what the bottom will look like when the additional weight is taken off...Another the hole where the shaft will go and one more showing a transparent side view.....

Headweight is targeted at 355g

Material: 1018 carbon steel

0* offset

4* loft

As for the material between the face and the cavity, just about an 1/8 of an inch if I had to guess....

Total cost will be $420.++ when completed....

This amount includes the milling of the putter from Emachine shop, milling from Kevin Colbert's guy (cross milling the face, removing weight from the bottom and milling the hole), Engraving in the cavity, 3X black oxide finish, shafting with a UST ff shaft and a midsize black Iomic.....

Very nice. I think it has the potential to perform brilliantly. Byron's Channel Islands mallet uses a similar approach to weight distribution and had glowing reviews.

 

How did you decide what bumper-weight felt best AND any plans to make/sell others?

My minor critique: The rear and heel profiles look very pleasing. I'm not sure about the angle of the toe. I guess I just like more of an angle on the toe like you have on the heel. The only other thing that feels just a little off to me is that really sharp edge around the face and top line. They look like they could use a round bevel to soften them up just a bit.

 

Can't wait to see how this looks all finished up. Nice work.

Not too difficult but it took a little time to get familar with.........They milled the head and mailed it to me in 27 days......

I just created a shape that was pleasing to my eye....No plans on making more to sell, I just wanted to design a putter and be able to use it....

In one of the previous post you'll read that the putter is in the hands of Kevin at Colbert putter plating and once the face, the hole and the extra weight off the bottom is milled he will bead blast it to take off some of the sharp edges.....keep in mind this is a first attempt......I'll definetly post more pics as it progresses.....

I was going to say...looks sort of like a combination of a Channel Island and a Squareback. Both of which I really like. Great work! Can't wait to see it finished.

She's getting closer!!!!!!!She's back from the engraver and prior to that the extra milling was done....the face, the hole for the shaft and the bottom have been milled.....The sharp edges of the face have also been softened.....Next will be XXX black oxide.....I decided to go with a matte finish for the top and the cavity and a polished finish for the sole and the face......Soon she'll get her UST frequency filtered shaft and Black midsized Iomic grip.....
