Also seems that the Brushed Blue on carbon comes out significantly darker than on stainless. I will admit that I was pushing for the darker the better, but like the look of this one.

 

Yes... the blue oil on carbon is a much deeper blue than on stainless.

 

It also seems that the color of blue that you get with this finish on carbon is much more consistent. Stainless heads will have a much larger difference in color, from putter to putter.

 

Here are some comparison pics of the 3 blue oil putters I've had...

Brushed Blue Oil on Stainless (gorgeous medium blue... this is my favorite color)

The higher the polish on the stick the deeper the finish color. Someone post an oil can! Haven't seen one in a while.

Haven't posted a putter picture in a while.. Here's a one off aluminum mallet/experiment . I'm not a mallet guy but took a try on this about 6 years ago. It's tingy sound wise. Im not sure what year Byron made it but it's older. Excuse the picture quality, the pics are old as well. :))

And while I'm posting, here is a lefty unicorn. I'm not sure exactly what I've got but word from Byron is that it almost has to be a hand made because he's never done a run of 8802 style in left hand. It will be in my hands tomorrow and I'll get better pics this weekend.

Great choice of finish on these, Jimmy!

 

The high polish makes them look like a piece of jewelry and it really makes that particular face milling pop. Plus the glass blast on everything you see at address, to cut down on potential glare, really gives you the best of both worlds.

It can be done. I had a satin GS DH89 with the blue oil finish. Just realize that the blue oil finish looks a bit different on top of a satin finish - not bad, but the colors don't pop as much IMO.
