Ping Loyalists or any other loyalists

My Pings are forever old but still loved
This may be posted up here 1000 times but what the heck! I am a super club ho, trying everythig I can get my hands on. I should be in jail for sexual club harassement! Anyhow my heart always brings me back to my Ping I3s. Even though I have surrounded that set with other ping stuff, which by the way is awsome in their own right... and I am not just saying that because I think all my clubs have to match. So I guess I was just wondering how many of you Ping people have left and comeback, never come back, or just never left. Also if you came back or never left, are you still on the original set? I find a lot of Ping players really like one of the models over another and are just even super loyal to that particular set even inside the company itself. I picked up a set of the I10's and as good as they look and feel, I just can't let go of my I3's.

I'm on my fourth set of Ping irons. I started with Eye 2 irons and following those with a set of Zing 2's. I left for awhile trying other companies but returned to Ping when the i5 irons came out three years ago. I recently purchased a set of S57 irons. There's just something about the feel of a Ping iron.

I'm on my 4th set of Pings. I started with a set of Zings switched to Ram Forge Cavities, then came back to ISI K. Then I gave Callaway a try and came back to the I3 + blades. I recently found a good set of copper EYE 2's and can not wait until Spring to give them a go. Hitting off the mats in a Chicago golf dome is not exciting.

I always thought PING came up with great woods. G2, G5, G10, Rapture new and old all were/are great drivers and fairway woods. Also PING putters (Redwood especially) are great sets as well. Some of the other PING insert putters look cheap sometimes but they do perform well. I don't really care for their wedges or irons.

Driver - Titleist TS3 9.5* w/ Graphite Design Tour AD IZ-6x

3 wood - Titleist TS2 15* w/ Graphite Design Tour AD DI-7x

5wood - Titleist TS2 18* w/ Graphite Design Tour AD DI-8x

Irons - Srixon ZX7 4, Srixon Z Forged 5- PW w/ Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 Tour 120X

Gap Wedge - Cleveland RTX Zipcore 52* w/ Nippon NS Pro Modus Wedge 115

Sand Wedge - Cleveland RTX Zipcore 58* w/ Nippon NS Pro Modus Wedge 115

Lob Wedge - Cleveland RTX Zipcore Full Face 64* w/ Nippon NS Pro Modus Wedge 115

Putter - Bettinardi DASS Diamond Face BB8 w/ Stability Tour Black

Ball - Srixon Z Star

I have always been a Ping guy. I change putters quite frequently and I must admit - no Ping putter in the bag right now. But I can't see myself going away from the irons. I've owned Eye 2s (still own them), Eye 2+, Zing 2s, and the ISIs that I currently have. I think about getting new (or at least different) irons from time to time, but I don't find myself hitting newer irons any better than the ISIs once I get past the honeymoon (new club magic) stage.

Something about Ping irons "work" for my eye, and the fact that they're basically impossible to wear out and for that reason have strong resale values should one choose to switch is always a plus.

Does that make me a Ping loyalist? I suppose it does. I love Pings, but not at the expense of other makers. There are so many great sets of irons out there now, but I just always come back to the Pings.

To the OP re: the i3 irons. Whereas the Eye 2 is probably the most influential set of irons that's ever been produced, the i3 might be the best iron that Ping has ever produced. They are just fantastic clubs.

Ping. Play Your Best.

Love my pings, I tried forged musclebacks (mp32's) for a bit just to see but went back to the Pings very quickly. In fact my whole bag is Ping except for 3 wood. I guess i just like a company that's never been about flash, but about producing clubs that help all levels of golfers.

I think a lot of Ping's success comes from their longer product cycle and not straying too far from their norm when it comes to design. That way their clubs never really go out of style, and due to their longer cycle they have a much better chance of releasing a product that's actually better than the previous version.

Newbie! I've got a set of Karten IIIs somewhere in my museum of golf clubs past. Even a Chipo to match them! Never had that kind of brand loyalty, though. I'll have that when I get them for free...and I'm not holding my breath!

Sorry to break the string, but ping has never fit my eye.

But on that note I am now a Nickent nut. My whole bag is Nickent, it's like it's been a personal crusade of mine to have all Nickent clubs. I even find myself routing for their relatively obscure players on the PGA and Nationwide Tour. Why I do this? I don't know! I've fallen in love with this company and I have no financial ties to it, I just think all there clubs are great and they look really good to my eye. Am I crazy? Some of my friends think, so! I had never heard of Nickent until last year (2007).

Still hitting my I3 O size and in fact will be putting on a second set of graphites on them this winter. The original shafts were getting pretty beat up and just landed a nice set of G2 graphites from a member in the BST. In addition I just found a 52 degree I wedge in primo conditon at Golf Galaxy for $59 and with a $10 dollar coupon walked out the door with it for $49. The grip is still in real good shape too after I scrubed it off sooo joy. I cannot wait for spring!

Still playing my first set of real irons - ISI BeCu's (11 straight years). I have started to replace the wedges with Vokeys though after I got one for free ... but I did replace my Callaway Driver with a G10 to make up for it.

I may pickup another set of Pings next year depending on what they release for a 50th anniversary set...

My first real set of irons were the Wilson Staff Tour Blades and then a set of fg-17. But I then went over to the PING side and have really never left. I've owned about every kind of iron known to man, Hogan, Cleveland, Callaway, even made numerous sets of Golfsmiths. But I always seem to come back. I have been lucky to have had 2 sets of EYE 2's , one EYE 2 +, 2 sets of ZING 2's, I-3 + blades, s-59, i-10's, and am currently scheming for some s-57's. I caught the Ping driver bug late with the ISI, but have G-5'd and G-10'd it since. Too many Ping putters to mention and probably going to rest my Sedona for an IWI .

I'm pretty attached to ping irons myself and at one point had a full bag of ping clubs. Have since swapped out the wedges for vokeys, the fairways for nike sumo squares but the G10 driver and the I10 irons have made it through many attempts at hoing! Prior to the I10's i had I5's. There is just something very utilitarian and purposeful about a ping iron. They are made to work, not for flash. The longer you have them the better they get i think. Kinda like your favorite pair of jeans.

My s57's are the best irons I've ever hit. They replace a set of i3+blades, the second best irons, which I am keeping for my son to use.
