VJ USING A SRIXON BALL???

Well in 2004 with all the slow motion pictures of him with that Taylormade driver is why Cleveland demanded that he use 100% Cleveland in the contract that was signed in 2005/2006.

But I was just questioning if anyone saw which ball he was using or is using for the Chevron tour challenge.

They haven't really shown a close up for a decent amount of time but he's blacked out the manufacturer's logo and also has a line down the seam, or what would be the seam if it is a Titleist.

Yeah, I was just watching the final round. It definitely looked like a different golf ball with thicker font. I would think that it could be

Srixon, Taylormade, or Bridgestone, but just by looks. Now that I know Srixon and Cleveland are linked, it seems more likely to be

Srixon.

"Wes Owens" apparently does know what he's talking about.

Vijay is not leaving CG to go to Taylor Made. I'm not sure who starts these rumors of Vijay ging to TM. Ive personally heard these for years and years ever since he used the R7 driver about 5 years ago. Get over it TM. He's locked in with Cleveland for a few more years and the change to the SRIXON obviously looks like its fits his game very well.

I whent to the Chevron all week and each day, VJ warmed up with Srixons. Everyday he used the same color ball bag as Furyk who definitely plays Srixon balls. Also I got a good look at his ball as I followed him and he definitley was playing a Srixon. Another interesting thing is the training aid he uses as he warms up. Its this thing he sticks in the butt end of his club and he "listens to his swing" not sure how but its this sonic thing that lets him listen to his tempo. Very interesting.

nbc showed a close up of vijay's putt not too long ago and the ball name had a black line marked through it......found that to be rather odd

i also noticed the close up shot on television of Vj's golf ball on the green; I saw that thick black mark through the manufacturer's name; the ball I saw on television this afternoon was definately NOT at Pro V1.

No joke. Vijay himself told myself and the rest of the staff of this change. No joke. When Vijay is not traveling, we see him on a regular basis at our academy.

I remember when there were all kinds of rumours that Paddy would leave Wilson. A lot of guys reported seeing him at their academy : Titleist, Callaway, and that was a clear indication that he was going to sign with Titleist, Callaway, or whatever. At the end of the day, Padraid stayed with Wilson, and we found that all "certainties" about him leaving Wilson were purely speculative. Don't want to diminish your point of view or opinion, but that's hoiw I see it.

Excuse me buddy but I do know what I'm talking about. I'm out at TPC Sawgrass everyday and I'm not the only one who heard first hand that VJ might be going to TM. So rather than saying that I don't know what I talking about, you might want to consider getting to the root of the problem before you start making your ****head diagnosis. You know, you can express your opinion however you wish and saying that I don't know what I talking about is rude.

I doubt that Vijay is going to be discussing his contract possibilities in an "open" forum. If for no other reason rumors can cause issues when contracts are being negotiated. It is also unlikely that he would say anything about a new contract until his old one is up and an official announcement is made. Two reasons: don't want to steal the new boss's thunder, and there are sometimes issues with the old boss if the information is released before the current contract is up.

I will never say never, but I find the move unlikely and even more unlikely that it would casually be mentioned before anything official is announced.

Not to nit pick, and I'm not doubting your access to info being out at Sawgrass everyday, but you were much more definitive in your original post... had you prefaced switch to TaylorMade w/ may/might there may not have been so much contention out there...

I'm sure it's a 5-10 year contract, but I doubt if any tour player has a lifetime contract.

Even Tiger doesn't have a lifetime contract with NIKE.

Tiger could have a lifetime contract if he wanted one. It isn't in his best interest to have one right now.

Vijay is going to be using a Srixon ball. At the end of this year, he will be finished with his contract with Titleist and then he will be switching to Srixon's new Star ball. I was watching him test it out last week at Sawgrass on trackman. He will also be out of a contract with Cleveland. He is switching to all TaylorMade clubs.
great info, I didn't know that, I haven't tried that new ball yet but I'm eager to check it out and see what it peforms like

Didn't Sam Snead have a lifetime contract with Wilson?

And then bury all the proceed from those Blue Ridge clubs they sold in soup tins in the garden? :D

Are you basing this off personal tests you've conducted or are you comparing this years' Titleists with next years' offerings from Srixon or the new generation PRO V's or what? Just curious as to how you came to this conclusion other than individual preference- which, of course, is fine...

It sounds very much as if he's in the transition period between ball contracts and is perhaps jumping the gun slightly by playing the new one in a season ending tournament - hence the camouflage job on the logo so as not to fall foul of his Titleist usage agreement.

Given the link between Srixon and Cleveland, it would make sense for him to go there. After his success with the Titleist ball it's an interesting change though.

Do we know what version of the Pro V1 he was using? I know some pros are using an older model. How long will Titleist be able to supply these pros with the older versions? Do any of these older versions use disputed patents?

He could still have a Footjoy, footwear and glove deal.

Others, with Titleist glove and ball deals to watch would be Weir and Perry.

Interested to see the new Srixon line. Hope they have reduced the size of their seam.

I've heard the same info second hand as well. Vijay is giving away his Cleveland gear (hats and such) since he won't be using it next year. I don't know what clubs he will be using next year. Based on this thread though, it seems most likely he will be using Srixon.
