Vote for your overall favorite golf gear brand !
Hey :)

Would like to know your favorite golf gear and equipment brand ?

I think it's a difficult question and I have several favorites, so I will let you vote for more than one brand - my favorite overall probably is Taylor Made, but their continued release of new drivers all year round makes it a bit confusing and sad to buy their brand new stuff, which basically is replaced before you go out of the golf shop with your new purchase under the arm. On the other hand, you can then buy their older models for half the price 2-3 months after they were the 'top of the pop'.

I also like Titleist for their classic and simple, yet elegant design - Vokey wedges, Titleist irons and Scotty putters - but always have that sentence in the back of my mind, when ever I think of Titleist golf clubs: "We're a ball company first and foremost, club building and club design is only a side business of ours"

Ping also has come strongly the lest 2 years with the release of new solid driver models like the G10 and Rapture models. Their irons, putters and wedges are classic favorites among many golfers.

Also think Mizuno is a solid comany, but mostly their irons and wedges are great. Not so crazy about their woods, hyrbids and drivers. Bettinardi putters makes them worthy of consideration though

What's your favorites ?

Duh, see below for answer! Just kidding! I am a devote Titleist fan, but I have strayed off the path or stopped drinking the Kool-Aid a few times in the past, but I always come back. Here are the reasons I like Titleist equipement:

1. Just plain old school with clean classic looking clubs. (excludingAP series and that god awful D1!)

2. Best custom department in the business with a ton more shaft offerings.

3. Selection of wedges in lofts and finish

4. Cameron putters, can believe I ever played this game before without one!

5. Equipment holds value, not outdated in six months!

I might add that Mizuno is probably a tie with Titleist on irons for me. I could easily be just as happy playing either one, but I like my all Titleist bag right now.

Titleist 910F 15 w/stock Kai'li 75s
Titleist 910H 19 w/stock Kai'li 80s

2 years ago I would never say this but I absolutely love the stuff I have got from Adams. It all started with the driver and hybrids which are the best on the market IMHO. Then I get a set of the pro golds with all irons instead of the hybrids and compared them side by side to my Scratch blades. Almost identical size and shape with more forgiveness. My second round with them was a course record. For putters I like my new C&L. It isn't any better or worse than my old 009 except that putter was about a tenth of the cost. I still use my scratch wedges, but like the looks of the Adams wedges and after some grinding will play them side by side and see if they are comparable.

Well will have to see how long the love lasts with Adams .

I have been following your WITB , MP 67 to SB1 to Adams .

BTW the progolds have very rounded base and edges unlike SB1 also the back cavity does not resemble the SB 1 .

I'm not looking at the back of the club while swinging and I simply mean headshape. I love my scratch blades and still have them but I score better and hit these further. I went from playing in golf tournaments and teaching part time to teaching full time and playing about 3 times a month. A little forgiveness doesn't hurt. BTW all those irons look similar at setup, not identical but very similar, and made the transition relatively simple. I don't change wedges or drivers often. Irons and putters have the shortest life span. The only way I will change irons before these wear out will be if I can get the blades they made for Baddley.

Going through my 20 years of playing, Mizuno are the clear leader in the iron category, with something like 12 years' worth of bag time. Nike are second with seven or so, and Titleist and Ping are bringing up the rear with around a year apiece.

The driver category would probably be something like an honorable draw between Taylor Made and Titleist. I played one or another Burner with allsorts of shafts in them for years in my early days before moving on to Titleist 975s in the last decade or so with a Nike for the last three or four.

For me, although I currently play a Nike, 3 wood = Taylor Made. For something like 17 years I had one of three Taylor Made clubs in play.

Wedges? I had a Ping L wedge for 10 years and then moved on to a 588 and latterly a Vokey and a Nike. Sand wedges have been Eye 2, 588 or a Vokey. Nothing else in two decades.

Putters for years were Ping; with Cameron grabbing some bag time in the last 10 years. Ping probably take it on total bag time though my a decent margin.

Ball-wise, I played the old Maxfli HT balata for several years until they changed the cover. I then went to Titleist and played a Tour 100, then the Professional and then the Tour Prestige. After that came my 'Nike period.' I bagged the original Tour Accuracy, then the TA2LNG and then the One Gold and One Platinum balls.

If I'm asked to choose a total bag from one manufacturer, only Titleist can manage it. Nike are the second choice but don't make a decent putter.

My answer's a tie between Titleist and Nike - with Mizuno and Ping a way behind. Cleveland get a mention in dispatches simply for making the 588 wedges.

Great ...,

When you say for giveness , what exactly do you mean ? You are a very good golfer ( a plus 2 or 3 as i recall ) . I am curious about your perspective on blade vs CB .

Club Ho ,

Not trying to threadjack ..

I already voted for bridgestone , Vega , fourteen and cameron .

I have always played blades but if I miss hit the ball it is usually slightly off the toe which with a blade goes no where because the majority of blades sweetspots are closer to the heel. With any players cavity a shot off the toe will go a lot closer to a well struck golf shot as far as distance is concerned. I used to lose almost 10 yard on a miss hit where as now its probably closer to 3-5 which means more greens hit. I don't miss hit a ton of golf shots, but it always seemed to be the ones I did really cost me, such as dropping a shot from the fairway into the lip of a bunker or just ending up with a 50 foot putt. My putting is my weakest point of my game and iron play actually my strongest. Once I got my ego out of the way and found some cb's I like looking at it was a no brainer. This year my stats are:

My Handicap: -3.9

Average Score: 71.83

Drives In Fairway / Round: 9.17

Driving Average: 65.5%

Green In Regulation / Round: 14.67

GIR Average: 81.48%

Pars / Round: 12.00

Birdies / Round: 2.83

Putts / Round: 32.67

Chikara would get a lot of votes had it been included.

Really?

If you look at the results of the poll (so far), I doubt if they would get 1% if they were included.

It's a bit like saying someone equally unknown would get plenty of votes if he/she stood for election.

Or maybe you know something we don't?

Brand, OEM.

#1 Titleist: Best overall selection of clubs and gear from top to bottom. If I had to play one brand only this would be it

Driver/woods/hybrids

#1 Adams Winners with the A4 tech driver and the Idea Pro hybrids, even the new fwy/hybrids are sweet

Irons.

#1 Mizuno Great choices in irons from GI down to players blades, some of the best looking and best feeling Irons I have hit. I wanted to vote adams on this, but Mizuno simply has more choices for all types of players.

What I do know is that you don't know what you're talking about.

There are many folks on this board that play the Chikara wedge. IMO it would recieve more votes than 1%.... so guess I do know something you don't. :bigwhack:

Here's hoping. It's probably some way behind the Alien wedge - had it been included.

Best overall brand would be Titleist as they have such a good selection of quality equipment

Best woods would be between Taylor Made & Adams

Best irons would be a close battle between Mizuno & Titleist

Best wedges: difficult to decide between Scratch and Vega

Best ball: Srixon as they produce great quality balls that are durable like the Z-URC & AD333
