did you order those more square toed than normal, me likey that way

I did. I almost wish I hadn't gotten the short irons as square, but I still like them.

Those look prettttttttttty. Do you actually have to hit them?

I wish I didn't. I am afraid of what could happen to them. :black eye:

is this the ho'ing to end all ho'ing?!?!?!

if it is then you sure know how to go out in style!

scratch sure know how to pimp irons, and yours are pimped to as very nice level without getting too clown-like

i can't imagine what you were between 10:30 and 11:16!

This is it. No more until I need a new set of these LOL.

I was standing at the front door swearing at Fed Ex for being late, and trying to calm myself down LOL.

EZgolfer, I'll still be in the BST, but only if my driver sucks.

These are amazing looking! Damned if I dont need to find a better job or a sugar momma

:pimp: Sugar momma all the way LOL.

Congrats Will! we need to get together when I'm in town again. P.S. did you get black nickel for the KBS tours?

Thanks Anthony.

We can see how the pieces fall LOL. I would have loved the black nickel, but I don't know if they had them, and I couldn't justify the extra cost if they did. They would have been really sick though.

ah you probably had it installed by Ari and the crew right? if I had known you wanted some black nickel ones I could have gotten you a new set for dirt cheap (I know this one guy who is a big accra dealer in San Antonio) and he had 3 new sets but I passed on them....keep in touch

Simply amazing. Love the looks. I can't even imagine what you'll do the first time you notice you happened to catch a pebble and put a knick on one of them.

I don't know what you do to get the cash for all your ho'ing, but dang...I need in

They are beauties! The Antique is quickly becoming my favorite finish. I might have to add a second set in 09' done in antique.

Glad you finally got them. I kept waiting for your signature to update. I was almost as anxious for you to get yours as i was when i waited for mine to arrive. Enjoy them. As I have told others it will change the way that you look at other OEM's irons.

Ok here we go. I won't go through every shot I hit with them today, I don't want anyone falling asleep, but I will go through some notable shots. I played with a guy I work with today at his country club. It is in a windy area of town, so throughout the day we had winds in the 12-20 MPH range with it being pretty steady in the 14-15 range. 68° pretty much the entire time, so nice temperature but a little more wind than I like.

First the hybrid:

I hit the hybrid off the first tee (we played at 6500 yards since that is his usual yardage). The hole was 345 yards and into the wind. My reaction to the hybrid was "Crap that sounds funny." It felt very solid, and the ball was in the center of the fairway a good distance out especially since I didn't do anything other than stretch. I hit it once more off the third tee, and once off the deck and my reaction was the same both of those times. It feels good, and has a nice trajectory to it, but it sounds stranger than any hybrid I have ever hit. The jury is still out on this club.

Now the irons:

As beautiful as these clubs are, they are that much more fun to hit. I have never hit anything that felt like these, and I have hit several models of Miura irons. The feel coming off of the face is just awesome. I didn't really mishit them, except for one super thin shot. It still got out there and was just short in front of the green. They seem very forgiving. Trajectory was excellent.

With the wind blowing, I had to hit some different shots with them to counteract the wind. On number 10, I was 115 out dead into the wind. I hit a full PW and kept it down. I flew right over the flag and had a 5 foot birdie putt (which I made :partytime2:) The KBS shafts feel great. I have always played PX 6.0's, and was a little weary of the X in the KBS. They feels so much better than the PX shafts that I will never even consider hitting PX's again. The shafts have a great feel, but they are still very tight. I can tell they knock some spin off the ball too. I was 177 out with a wind coming from the west. I aimed right at the flag and the ball never even budged off line. I found that to be true most of the day, these cut through the cross winds very well. The lack of offset really helped with the workability. I hit some draws and cuts into some tight pins. I was incredibly pleased with the accuracy and workability of the clubs. The distance on these is great too. I think it might be the KBS shafts. Even with these being a degree weaker than I am used to (48° PW) my distances were still the same or maybe 3-5 yards longer. I shot a 76 today hitting only 2 fairways :black eye: Not bad considering the wind and that I had never hit them, or played the course for that matter.

After one round, I can honestly say that these clubs were worth every penny that I paid for them. \ The feel is just unmatched, and the irons are a joy to hit. I can't wait to go play again. These are definitely going to be in my bag for a LONG time.

If anyone has any specific questions, or if I left anything off let me know and I will happily answer.

LOL Thanks. They were worth the wait. I can't imagine playing another brand of irons really. I will wear these out and get another set, they are that good.

I forgot one thing, the sole on the irons was excellent. The ground was a tad wet, and they just glided through the turf. I never had them dig on me at all. They really cut through all the ground very well, and I can tell that they will be great on the harder ground too.

Good review, sounds like some very nice clubs you've got for yourself there. Now when you say they're going in the bag for a VERY long time...can we really believe that with who's talking?

Just kidding, I hope you really have found something worthy of the bag for years to come.

There's nothing out there even close to the SB-1s. The topline and zero offset are the gold standard... and they are much easier to hit than old school blades. And as zzmkdw said Scratch has changed the whole retail game in the U.S. The service and quality previously only found in boutique putter companies is now in an iron and wedge company. We just need someone to take on woods this way too.

I agree. The topline and lack of offset are insane. I was standing on a par 3 tee with water in front of the green, and I was thinking you better hit this LOL. They are easy to hit though. I hit 2 slightly thin shots, and one really thin shots, but all the rest felt like they were dead center. They fly for sure. I may email Ari and tell him to get to work on a driver.

MchSt805, :russian_roulette: I really believe these aren't going anywhere. I have never been a huge iron HO anyway, but now there is no chance that these are leaving.

is "the jury still out" on the hybrid based soley on the sound? it sounds as if you hit it very well

Well the sound is part of it, but I only hit 3 balls with it too. A draw off the first tee, a hook off the second tee, and a pretty straight shot off the deck. I hit my 5 wood incredibly well though. It will be tough to knock the 5 wood out of the bag. I am going to hit the Scratch again and get a better idea of what it does.

Sounds like you had a great 1st day. I'm sure the ones to follow will be just as sweet. Well except for those days when your swing takes a vacation and you don't get the memo, LOL. (it happens to me too often)

I definitely missed the memo. I hooked my 3 wood OB on the second tee. :black eye: That is normally my money club off the tee, and it was terribly inconsistent. I would have been better off hitting 3 iron off the tee all day and not touching a wood, but what fun would that be? :D

Did yours show up today?

They shipped out today. I talked to Jon yesterday and he was doing the final assembly. So I should have them the beginning of next week.

You should have Mr. Kwok build you a set. I know you are a big blade guy.

Yes, I now know I am a BLADE guy forever. The Ping S57's lasted 3 rounds, despite 3 rounds of 75, they just didn't do it for me.

I thought about having Joe build me a set if a set I liked showed up on the BST. There was a set the other day that fit the bill but I was not ready yet. I am not sure I could wait for the build time you had with Scratch. I am on the demo list?

What I root for...none of its blue and orange :russian_roulette:

Penn State Nittany Lions

Pittsburgh Steeler Football

Penguin Hockey

Play well,
