Scratch 1018 wedges!

I have been dying to post these, and now that "Got An Itch?" has posted some pictures I have been given a green light.

I got these back when I got my irons, and have been gaming them since then. I had the JLM wedges right before these. I really like the JLM wedges, but didn't have the right grind in them. They also didn't spin quite enough for my tastes around the green. Enter the 1018.

These are the best wedges that I have used by a lot. The grind on them is amazing. It really makes a huge difference to have a proper fitting grind. The grind makes a big difference on full shots, and around the green. The 1018's have the aggressive grooves, and they really put some spin on the ball. I can get them to stop from anywhere. Put the grooves together with the grind, and I have been able to get up and down from places that would have killed me when I used my Cally wedges with the MD grooves.

Here are the pictures. I have removed the paint from my initials to give them a clean look like my irons.

Those look awesome man. Finish and grind both are sweet. I love the rounded toe on them as well.

Haha. These won't be sold. I am going to get a second set for when these wear out. Gotta stock up while I can.

Hey Pete, I will snap one when I get home.

 

I forgot to mention that the grooves are not too bad on golf balls. I can play 18 holes with one ball with these. With my Cally's, I had to switch after about 12. Ari said that the edges of the grooves are rounded just a bit to keep them from killing golf balls so much. I played with a buddy, and he commented on the amount of spin I got off of these. It still seems to be very close to the MD, if not the same.

What's the difference between the Tour department wedges from 2008 and these? Sounds like there are new grooves. Both are 1018 and offer any design changes, right?

The grooves are totally new for the 1018 wedges. They are the maxed out to the current USGA limit with a slightly radiused edge that we have found cuts down on the destruction of golf balls without sacrificing spin. They will spin as much or more than any groove on the market.

 

That is directly from Ari in another thread. The 1018 is the new retail line that will be $150 a wedge, and they are worth every penny of it.

They changed the head shape a bit based on feedback from tour guys. I like the new shape a lot.

I think it is the same number, but I'm not sure. They are changing the naming system. The retail ones won't say the same thing on the hosel that mine do.

I have an SFU and an SND. SFU on 60° and SND on 53° bent to 54°.

 

They were trying to get them out for March, not sure if that is still the plan.
