What's Alvaro Quiros' swing speed with the driver ?

I have seen him clocked at 124mph and 130mph, he is definitely longer than JB and bubba and actually has a nice looking action if not a bit quick.

I saw him playing with JB at the US Open on the Friday round. He outdrove JB on 12 by 10 yards, I'm assuming JB got pissed and out drove Quiros by 25 yards on 13. I'm not saying either one hits it farther this is just a two hole sample. They both were on or over the green on 13 that day which was playing 600+ if I'm not mistaken. I'm quite sure they both hit hybrids into the green also.

Just quoted 130+ on the PGA coverage and ball speeds approaching 190 mph. Stupid long!

I'm sure Quiros is swinging in the 125+ range. There is just no way a swinger in the 118 range and hit it that far. I know, because I average 117 and top out at 122 on an Advil high. I'd say a lot of his swings are in the 127 range for sure.

Ive seen alvaro clocked twice at 124mph and 130mph. His LA was pretty low though, he could be even longer!

I was directly behind Quiros on the range on Friday before the round (Tiger and Couples were right next to him). His launch angle looked pretty good. If anything his spin rate looked a little high so 12.5 and 2600 spin looked about right to me (I am used to looking at LA and spin and comparing to a Launch Monitor outside so I have a fairly good feel for it). It is not easy to distinguish between LA and spin without a LM.

The most impressive thing was when he hit a few off the deck (into about a 25 MPH wind) that were flying about as far as Tiger's drives off a tee.

Stenson lagging behind Ross Fisher? Ehhh..no. Stenson is currently 3rd in driving distance at the european tour and there is a lot of 3-woods in those stats. Stenson is the only guy I have seen who sometimes goes for the green from fairway from 300yards. I think Bubba has tried that some time perhaps, but that has been with driver. Quiros is the only other guy I could think of who could do it. Ross is long, but definitly not the capacity of Quiros or Stenson. Only reason Quiros or Stenson aren't leading the european tour averages from tee is becuse they both are so freakish long they don't need the driver. Also, when they do hit driver they dial down on it. You can see it when you compare theire 3-wood swings compared to driver swings.

Seen Quiros on the range at Valderama. They actually had to get an official to stand on the fairway that runs parallel to the end of the range to collect his balls as he was flying them over the trees at the end of the range and onto the golf course. Certainly the longest hitter I have ever seen up close.

You are right. In the earlier post where I wrote that the only one I could think of who would be able to hit those 300yards fairway shots other than Stenson was posibly Quiros. I probably should have added Coltsaert to that list. I don't think Bubba, Dustin, JB Holmes, Garrigus can do it. Never seen them close to doing it anyway.
