R7 Limited tp vs 909D2

easier launch of the two..........

Which of these two fine heads in matching loft and shaft would launch higher?? say 10.5* with diamana 63 regular tipped

Swingspeed is currently mid 90's and normally play a flat hard cut; Rapture 10.5* with Prolaunch 65 stiff.

Even though I'd like a S9-1 Pro S, I feel as though it won't spin enough............demo'd a 9.5* stock stiff and couldn't hit it higher than 10ft off the ground :black eye:

I think the limited will launch higher. It seems to have a shallower face=higher launch.

My thinking too but the 909D2 doesn't seem overly deep faced........... surprised at the face depth of the S9-1 pro S; it seems to be as deep as the D3!!!

Does the limited look like the face of the R7 HT?? shallow, longer heel-to toe??

If you hit a cut/fade it will turn into a slice if you have a driver with a 2* open face which the Limited TP and 909 D3 both have.

Asking about the D2.......... and the face angle is only .5* open..............in a regular flex your statement isn't necessarily true............not really 30yd banana ball and I've hit open face driver with success before, in fact my rapture looks to be .5-1.5* open but maybe not

How about the launch??

Im not really sure how the R7 HT looked but I think the R7 LTD is a beautiful thing. I demo'd the regular R7 and wouldn't mind playing it as it set very neutral. Never been a big fan of Titleist drivers but thats me. The LTD seems shallow enough that I could hit it off the deck.

I deomoed both of them today and I felt that there was not really a huge differene in ball flight, the r7 limited TP was a little higher but that could easily be a shaft thing, the r7 really had the D2 beat on forgiveness though, so I think the limited is your best bet

Any time anyone wants to compare launch characteristics between two heads with the same loft stamped on the bottom, you really really really need to have the lofts measured professionally. The manufacturing tolerances are usually around +/- 1* which means a 9* TM could actually be 8* and a 9* Titelist could actually be 10* (That's kind of a big difference, there)

If lofts are truly the same at the sweet spot, launch angle will be the same (provided the angle of attack is the same, swing speed, etc). Contrary to popular belief, the shaft won't contribute a whole heck of a lot. I'm not saying that it won't influence it, but the head/loft is far far more influential. I'm still a shaft ho, though, lol!

The R7 Limited will be much, much higher. I have both the 909 D2 in a 9.5* with the Diamana and the R7 Limited in 9.5* with Diamana as well and it is noticeably higher.

I hit my stock 10.5* R7 Ltd. with the 16 gram weight out on the toe. I hit it as high if not higher than any other 10.5* I've owned. I have not had the loft measured but I hit it high enough that it could be off. It doesn't balloon, just goes high and carrys. Good distance and forgiving. I wouldn't call the face shallow, but then again I did play a 5900 last year which would make anything else look deep!
