SRIXON CLIMBS TO # 2 BALL ON PGA TOUR

 

 

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (March 16, 2009) - Cleveland Golf/Srixon is pleased to announce that according to the latest Darrell-Survey, Srixon balls finished tied for 2nd place in tour usage at the 2009 WGC-CA Championship. This accomplishment marks the first time in Srixon’s history that their golf balls have finished in the #2 spot at a PGA Tour event.

Played one round with the Z-Star so far, but it is already my new ball of choice. I get such a low spin rate off the driver that I can play a ball that spins a hair more. Z-Star is long, and my spin rate is still insanely low off the driver. Great ball around the greens, and off the irons. Probably one of the best feeling (if not THE best feeling) balls of the putter out there.

Seriously though, there are a few of both zstar and zstar x. It depends on the spin needs of the player more than anything else.

It's just speculation - but did anyone notice the naming Z Star and Z Star X - kinda like the ProV1 and ProV1x -

 

I think that Vijay would not change balls for any reason - but he did, he used to be playing an older form of ProV1x then the lawsuit and win by Callaway......

I'd bet that Srixon bought/rented the formula for the old ProV1 and ProV1x and the guys that used the old ones switched because thats what they want to play.

 

Just a speculation, but it kinda makes sense. Vijay seems like a no nonsense player and wouldn't change for simply money. And that would help make them jumping to top of ball scene. ;)

I agree. I don't think Vijay wouldn't chat just for the money, he is very particular about is equipment. I am in love with this ball and can't say enough about it. Z Star X for me!!! :man_in_love:

Does anyone know which, if any, NON-Srixon or Cleveland players switched to Srixon? I would think that a fairly large portion of the surge in Srixon's popularity was the result Cleveland staffers switching over to Srixon after the purchase of Cleveland by Srixon.

 

Also, any stats on the overall use/rank of Srixon balls, rather than just at the WGC-CA?

The ZStar is the best ball on the market...hands down. Now, of course it made sense to follow the same profile scheme as Titleist - it's what the pros and consumers have gotten used to (also ZStar X = red numbering, ZStar = black numbering). As many have attested to, go buy a sleeve of each and test for yourself. Unbelievable off driver, irons, putter - it really does everything.

Z-Star for me!! I tried the Z-URS last year and enjoyed it but didn't commit. I have put the Z-Star in play and after just a couple of rounds I am sticking with this ball for the long term. Best ball I have ever tried and a few bucks cheaper than the other premium balls.

I've played the ZStarX up against the new ProV1x and have been amazed at the difference with regards to durability, the Srixon is amazing, whereas the Titleist is scuffed up after a few holes and really needs to go in the practice bag

I totally agree! The Z-Star is a great ball. I cannot find any faults with it. I switched back and forth between the prov and z-urs last year. I find no reason to try the new 2009 ProV.

I have used almost a box of z star in last several rounds. This is a great ball for the price , spin, feel of the putter , playing in wind , off the driver and irons .

New nike offerings are very average . Tour ix has taken a second seat now . B330s(2008) is a little short of the driver , almost no roll ,than Zstar for me .

I have to update my signatures BTW .

Glad to hear everyone likes them. I've only had the chance to clip a few around as our season has yet to start... But, on the good side there was a promotion going on for these balls and it was a buy one get one for free deal! I now have eight doz. ready to go!

What a lot of people don't realize is Srixon/Sumitomo have been building balls for other OEM's for years. Remember the Maxfli Revolution, great ball. Srixon made those. They know how to build a ball without using other manufacturers patents.
