Diamana Family Shafts

I am looking into purchasing one of these Diamana shafts. If not at least inside the Mitsubishi family. I was wondering which of all these shafts would be a fit for me. I hit the ball on average about 250 with a launch height of about 13 or 14 degrees. I swing in the neighborhood of about 88 to 93. Can anyone name a good shaft for me in this broad family of quality shafts?

honestly if your SS is 88-93 and you get 250.. you may already have the right shaft, because that is actually really good.

I agree with the above poster. If you are just dying to switch, you could play a BlueBoard.

You aren't gonns get any more out of your SS than what you're already getting. Save the money. You must have nailed your combo already.

Yeah, seems a bit too good to be true but he could be playing at elevation or on rock hard fairways (220 carry, 30 roll).

 

Anyhow, without more info seems like the recommendation to stick with what you have is a good one. But if you're set on a Diamana then a redboard in either a regular or maybe stiff (depending how you load the shaft) would be my best guess (kinda like playing darts in the dark though).

I'm not quite sure what loading the shaft is but my tempo is slow back and fast down. I just seem to make very good contact. Our fairways aren't super hard but if you hit them you get a decent amount of roll. It is possible. Thanks for all the responses. I am lookin for a stiff just to bring down the ball flight a little though. Thank you again

 

BTW. I play the stock Taylormade Burner shaft in the 07 Burner. In a regular flex.

OKay one last question. I was wondering. I'm willing to lose a few yards to add more control. What could I do to do that? Shorten the shaft what not? Basically I would like to focus more on control then distance. I'll give up yards to put it in the fairway. Can anyone give me advice on that?

Stiffer shaft will lower spin and lower your shot dispersion, which is accomplishing your desire for control. I would get a 63 gram redboard in stiff flex.

Playing a stiff with your SS just to get control is a bad idea, IMO. You will lose feel because it will seem boardy and that will reak havoc with your swing, possibly causing you to lose control, not gain it. Plus, you will definitely lose distance.

 

With only 13-14* of launch, why do you want to bring your flight down? That's already on the low end of what you want for your SS. If you are going to spend the money on a diamana, be sure to get fit first. Well worth it.

I may just look into changing drivers. I will most likely switch to a 10.5 with either a regular or stiff flex. Really like my TM Burner but its got the closed face which I checked out on TGW. It says its a degree closed. I'm looking into either getting the Nike Sumo or possibly getting the Tour Burner. Maybe the TP with the Whiteboard. Anyone like either over the other by chance?

If he cant properly load the shaft he will not get an increase in consistancy

Yeah I really like the 5900 so I might invest in that and then the shaft. Whats the standard driver length? And how much would I be cutting it down? Also what degree would you recommend? I have the 07 Burner in the HT format which is like 11.5 so should I just move down to the 10.5 Reg flex?

i would test a 9.5 and a 10.5....... I play a 10.5 with a heavy XX. I love the workability and forgiveness on a higher lofted driver so i found a heavy low launch shaft.....Fujikura Sapphire. For you I would say 10.5 but we would have to see what you launch angle and spin rate are, but I would put a good guess on 10.5
