Nike Demo Day

I went to a Nike demo day at our local club the other day.

I was looking forward to trying the Nike clubs since have never hit any of them.

I liked the retail sasquatch, nice flight and feel. Tried several different lofts and shafts but couldn't conclude which was best for my swing. Also tried the tour model of the saquatch but didn't seem to hit it any better.

I didn't care for the hybrids in look or performance. The top has a sunken look like it was made to hold water.

Also tied the slingshots and pro combos. Not impressed.

They had one launch monitor setup so I got in line to see what the Sasquatch numbers were for me. Unfortunately the guy in front of me brought his TM R7 and asked the nike rep to beat it. I finally gave up waitng after 20 minutes in line. It appeared the Nike rep was trying to impress the TM guy and had him trying every club they had. He must have hit 50-60 balls, with people waitng in line I thought that was ridiculous. I left with a bad taste in my mouth about NIKE.

So overall, what do you want us to take from your contribution?

Not trying to be a smartazz, just trying to figure if you are venting or have a point that I may have missed. :)

I bet everyone hates Ping at our store because everytime we have a demo day and ping comes, he is slammed the whole time and some guys are crappier golfers and take forever. Thats where someone needs to police the hitting and tell a guy to step aside they have had enough time.

Back to the subject at hand.

I have a SQ tour and i did hit some really good drives on friday. I could tell that some of my misses were a little straighter and in play. Ive talked to a couple of Nike reps and they are seeing everyone getting the SQ Maxx instead of the tour because the spin rates are staying down so much with it vs the tour model. I have hit both and the only thing i am a fraid of with the Maxx is that i will hit it too high. I can launch the 8.5 tour with an NV75 Stiff 14*. THe backspin does stay down a little better than some other drivers. Overall i think the Maxx is more forgiving, but i just loved the way the tour set up and i will sacrifice some looks for confidence.

I just posted my experience that's all.

As far as the launch monitor experience, I wasn't the only one to walk away.

I was happy to have the oportunity to hit some Nike clubs. The rest of the staff was courteous and helpful and couldn't keep me supplied with enough balls to hit.

I guess my point is maybe it would be better if all had a chance to hit on the monitor. If a private lesson was in order take him to a differant tee all afternoon if necessary. :)
