it's awesome to see the Chicago guys set this up - I would be up for an outing but unfortunately I am out of town that weekend. I am definitely interested if another outing gets set up.

For what it's worth - I played Mistwood earlier today. Despite all the rain, the course was in great shape. The greens were as good as I've played all year. The only "problem" is/was the fact that they made the par 4 16th into a par 3 (apparently, they are having some problems with the green).

Just bumping the post. Looks like we're heading to 8 people...if you could confirm it would be greatly appreciated. I have to let Mistwood know by Wednesday of the final count. If you can/can't make it please let me know. If you'd like to play, we will probably have openings.

Just to close it out, yesterday B-Man, aka Rich, Mitchleary, aka Corey, b81smith, aka Ben and I played a very windy round out at Mistwood in Romeoville. The course was in outstanding condition although we faced consistent 25 MPH winds that gusted up to 40 MPH making the links course play like a British Open.

 

Ironically, although our games were at several different levels of experience and handicaps, we all gamed Mizuno irons. Corey and Ben are also gaming Scratch wedges. We all obviously shared a passion for the game as well as GolfWRX and we have quite a bit of commonality in our favorite "posters." To protect the innocent, we won't name names here!

 

If anyone wants to see the simplest and sweetest swing out there, get in touch with Rich. He's a +1 and I was in awe of his swing. Rich only gets to play a couple of times a month but you'd never know it. Next time we'll have video so you can see his butter swing for yourself. Ben not only is LONG, LONG (driver wedge to the par 5 18th) but flights his ball at will. Ben also won the style award with his matching argyle shirt, baby blue shorts and paint filled driver. Anytime you to need to insure a putt gets to the hole, Corey is your man. Corey also won the longest drive award making the trek from Bloomington. Corey knows equipment as well as anyone!

 

We'll try to pull another day together towards the end of the summer and hopefully have a few more WRX'ers from the Chicago area, or downstate IL for that matter join us. Will sent something out in August.

 

We toasted GolfWRX at the end of the round over some cold hops and barley and told a few stories. Also had a bit of name and course dropping! The day started with 4 guys who like to golf and ended up with 4 guys who became friends.

Guys - it was a pleasure playing with you. Windy was an understatment - - played monday too and anyone that played sunday said it was much worse. Thanks for the kind words. Lets try to do it again. I think this time was just a odd time for some reading the above posts. I also think that Bettinardi Studio B had some outting the same day and ......ahem I guess RJB and his house and country club draws more than just us guys. LOL. I had a great time with a couple of great guys.

 

Thanks to DavePelz4 for setting it all up - I promise I'll take a larger role next time.

I'm with you Lefty. I'm disappointed that I completely missed this thread AND played 36 holes that day anyways. I'm in Lake Zurich and even something up in Cary like Foxford or Chalet Hills.

I'd be happy to play in a Chicago area GolfWrx event.
I'm in arlington heights, but would be up for playing anywhere around the suburbs from Geo W Dunne to Thunderhawk or Shepherd's Crook to Blackstone or Big Run.

Shepherd's Crook is a nice track! I got married in Zion at Illinois Beach Resort and played there that morning. Golf Club of Illinois is nice as well.

I wish I could set it up. I'd be happy to help...but I just accepted a promotion, my wife is 6 months pregnant, I have a 4 year old and we are fostering a dog...a bit busy but will help in any way I can.
