AP2 already worn. You must be practicing alot. My 690 still look ok!

I was thinking about getting the AP2 next sommer, now I will wait for these (or new s57 with legal grooves).

Yep... play or range 6 days a week for the most part. Beat lots of range ball ;)

easiest way for me to describe the ap2 710 is that its an ap2 head and body with a tm tour preffered sole...i wasnt a fan of the ap2 because of its sole width and design but since they beveled the leading edge and trailing edge of the sole of the 710 i was able to "pick" the ball better...i tended to hit the ap2 a little thin because the leading edge would bounce into the ball a bit but with the new ap2 sole grind this was no longer an issue...trajectory control for me was way more controllable compared to the standard ap2, again because i was able to compress the ball better because of less digging of the leading edge...distance wise i didnt see any real difference with the tour preffered(everything was within 5 yards of each other and dispertion was within a 15 yards circle)...just incase you were wondering i tested the tm tour preffered, titleist ap2,and titleist ap2 710 with rifle project x 5.5's in them with titleist pro v1 practice balls...didnt get to try out the ap1 710 that much mainly because im not a huge fan of offset irons...

Sorry Scotte, you are misinformed, Titleist is on a firmly set two year rotating irons and then woods Novmember launch cycle. I have confirmation of this from them as recently as two weeks ago.

you are correct that they are on a 2 year cycle, I don't disagree with you at all. I know this for a fact. However irons are always march.

the ap1 and ap2 were released on March 15, 2008

here is a little proof for you from titleist

The 2008 Titleist franchise is now available to order and the projected ship date is March 15. Accounts will be on allocations to stabilize supply and demand.

The Tour Preferred sole is actually WIDER than the current AP2. Granted it is only 1mm but it is wider, 22mm to 21mm. (According to Golf Digest HOTLIST).

It also has a taller toe, thicker topline, and is longer heel to toe than the current AP2, yet they claim to have the same surface area.

One of the panel judges even said it was the most forgiving club in the category (Players Irons).

Now I own both sets and think the AP2 is more forgiving that the Tour Preferred personally.

i guess i shouldve said that the tour preffered has a wide sole that was beveled to play like a narrower sole(leading and trailing edge was beveled...as well as the heel area)...the new ap2 710 did the same thing...

New AP1 and 2 around holiday time, according to Titleist insider rep. New AP2 with little changes, slight difference in weighting in shorter irons for lower flighting. AP1's getting bigger change: thinner topline, less offset. Allowing for more blending of two sets as well. Many good local professionals using AP1's for long irons in 3 and 4, even 5, and AP2's in mid and shorter irons. Biggest change will be new forgings, muscle and CB. he didnt go into detail with these other than the ZB will be out.

This is the best description and news yet on this subject.

I blend my Mizunos and wanted to blend a set of APs, but did not like transition, balloning short irons..etc..

So this description that the newer models and tweaking them towards an easier set to blend, lower flighted short irons etc... is great..

When anyone gets more news of pics of these new ones, let us know.

Still curious as to what the 710 stands for?

I never understood why so many of "us" change irons every year.Lofts change and you have to relearn yardages unless you have 'em bent.Plus, there isnt really a whole lot more they can do with the iron besides cosmetically.Ive been playing the same set {more or less} since '01 and you couldnt pry my dci's from my cold dead hands. As long as the grooves are still good, what would be the point. To hit a better shot? A quick lesson will fix that.I do upgrade drivers and wedges pretty often though but with the driver I wait until the following year and wedges,I just go ahead and grab them if I like them and need them.I hit a lot of wedges and wear the grooves out so I go thru wedges every other year at best.

I guess you are still driving the same car since 01 too right? If you do play golf often then why aint your groves on you irons wore out? 8 years of use and your grooves arent suffering? People can do what they want.

rehberg, the dci line is cast stainless, and the grooves don't wear out. just like pings, you could play these clubs for a lifetime. I have a set of dci 990's and I am going to go back to them from my 695's. I swing a driver around 110, and after 8 years of everyday play with my 990's they are still in great shape, and the grooves are fine.

Does that mean the new AP1's will be forged?

irons are always spring never fall. Trust me, I know someone at titleist. look for them around march

Really? I asked our titleist rep a few generations ago about what the 905 stood for and he replied that it is the release date: September 9th. He could have been blowing smoke up my arse, but I believe they were released around that time...same as the 909 series, around the Fall.

TM Sim2 Titanium 15* w/ Diamana Kai'li
TM Sim2 3h w/ AXIVCore Green
TM P790 4i w/ HZRDUS Smoke

TM P7MB 9 - PW w/ Project X LZ
TM MG 50 and 55 w/ Project X LZ

TM MG Hi-Toe 60 w/ Project X LZ

Sorry to burst any bubbles here, but I'm on staff with Titleist. The irons will have a fall release, just as they always have. I received my AP2 irons in December of 07. We started getting them in Nov. I have confirmed info from Titleist from two days ago that the new irons will be out this fall.

Well rlclimer if you are a staff member, then you should know by now that nothing a Rep tells you is concrete until the Summer Sales Meeting is complete in July. Until then, all of this is mere speculation. Just two cents from a long time Titleist/Cobra Tech Rep.
