Local retailer said the stock Project X graphite shaft that Ping is offering in the new G15 and i15 drivers are getting incredible ball speeds and good results with customers in testing.
Anyone know where I can find the specs or differences between the one's Ping offer and the tour ones?
Are the ones Ping has made-for or the real deal? That alone could make or break me buying a new G15..
The are the real deal aftermarket shafts. The aftermarket shafts are all sub 70 grams, same low spin characteristics as the tour versions, but including the softer flexes (6.0-5.0). The 7.0 and 6.5 are 6A4 and 6B7 with the retail flexes on them.

I was able to get a 5.5 (what can I say, I'm a weiny) and so far I love it in my R9. The combo is the straightest I've hit.

84a4 or 10a2 !!!!! aahhhhhh i cant decide

i am ordering right now and need to know which one to get.

i balloon the ball really high with tons of rpms and want to hit super flat knuckle balls off the tee.

and i want to hit fairways even if i sacrifice 10 yards due to weight. thats making me want the 10a2

i want to still hit the s*** out of it and hit flat 290+ carry's that roll out. --- making want the 83a4

The 10A2 is SUPER low spin+low launch, if you're looking for a driver go with the 8A4.

i hit the ball so high with the driver. i feel like my trajectory with the power hitter 350gram version is more normal than my real driver trajectory. like i actually want to feel what it is like to fight to get the ball up in the air higher.

plus the local shop has the 10a2 in stock
8a4 would have to wait.... or just get it online

I don't know if it was a prototype only, but see if you can find an X-8AA4.

Same profile as the X-8A4, but a 7.5 flex instead of 7.0.

The PX shaft will kill a lot of spin, but if you are ballooning because of swing issues, it'll only do so much.

The 8A4 has a stiffer tip than the 10A2, so the 8A4 might actually help you keep the ball down better. It definitely flattened my ballflight, but my ball is still getting up there if I tee it up normally (with half the ball above the crown). Not sure if it will reduce launch as much as it will reduce spin....

talked to a couple people on the phone

PING WRX does not have the 8A4 shaft available for sale with the I15 just yet. They are testing/approving it now. I was told a couple more weeks ? But they will get it in stock with pricing similar to what a super exotic shaft cost now with the PING I15.

So for me spending 300+ on a shaft doesn't make sense when i can buy from a new driver from ping wrx with a super hot face around 250 more.

however PX does make 10a4 not available to regular people.
Just put the 8A4 in an R9 TP 3wd. Unbelievable.
I got my 8a4 in a Tour issue R9 8.5 head and all I can say is wow.....I have never had a more boring trajectory and more roll in my life.

Knocked my 9016D/WB combo right out of the bag and onto someone else.

Joe,

Did the X-8AA4 wood shaft and X-HA1 hybrid shafts not make out of the prototype phase? I've been looking for another X-HA1 and hope that they will be producing more.

Basically the one on the list above are the one who made the cut for production. The one got thrown out are the one either to close of a specs, not good enough after pro demo or just simply not meet their standard expectation.

YES, some are just waay to much for us human being to play it. :)

YES, they actually made quite a bit of prototype and they do a lot of demo and cut to finalize the list above.

The last number in the code is an internal iteration number and has nothing to do with the spec or playability of the shaft. There were many, many prototypes created during the testing period and we used those codes to know what version someone was testing in case we needed to go back to it.

Do you know what manufacturers will be offering these shafts as a custom option in the near future?
