He signed into Puttertalk like June 27th or 28th so 2 weeks without an Email is truly unacceptable, he was clearly able to get online.

I think the issue is done. I wish people would stop and wait for his side of the story...

I wouldn't say the issue is done for several reasons.

1. He lied about when the putter was originally going to ship.

2. He ducked and dodged all attempted communication from several people for a long time.

3. He obviously was online during the time he wouldn't return calls or emails(since he shows being online on puttertalk.com).

4. William hasn't actually received his putter to his satisfaction.

So I don't think its anywhere close to being done. This wasn't just happening to one person. This wasn't a fluke. Deerslayer didn't do the right thing no matter how you look at it. I personally wouldn't deal with anyone who does business this way.

No one here is disputing that he may have a reason for what happened. However it takes literally 5 minutes to send an email that says Hey Will I got extremely busy and will have your putter a few extra weeks. Everyone know will has enough putters to get him by ;). However the lack of communication and the value of this putter alone would make anyone nervous if the person that had it did not respond to you for weeks

Did you read Kevin's post above yours before posting? He had time to log in to PutterTalk, but not to return my phone calls or emails? And I shared his side of the story. He is traveling around with his son for golf tournaments. He told me I would have it back a certain day, and it didn't happen. I spoke with him the day before it was allegedly going to ship, and that was the last time I heard from him.

I agree that he could have contacted you and the other member on puttertalk. I also agree that bringing this public was the right thing to do. I am glad you were contacted and that your putter is on it's way. I see that you have his story but would like to hear it from him before I jump on the band wagon... He seems like a nice guy from the few PMs we have exchanged. The man was busy, maybe an impromptu trip. To explain the logging on, When I turn on my phone it logs me into facebook automaticly. Maybe horrible service? But what I meant about the issue being "done" was purely directed to the fact that the putter has been located and is on its way...

Phones don't auto log in to PT though. Comparing those two is a bit of a stretch. And the putter is not yet located or on its way. He has to check with his wife and see what is happening.

When/if the putter does show up, I will have the thread closed. I just hope the other guy gets his too. 60 days is a long time, and he hasn't said anything yet.

I can't imagine paying that kind of money for a putter then sending it off without getting the person's phone number, physical home address, blood type, cell number, ss#, next of kin contact information, birth date, etc, etc, etc.

I hope it was insured when it was shipped. If they'll even insure something for that dollar amount.

Wow.

Hopefully he comes through. I've seen it in other forums where good intentioned, talented folks try to bring their hobby into a side business and get in over their head when mixed with life, job, family, etc. It often seems to come to this type of point where they simply stop responding. I hope he manages to get these issues resolved and re-thinks his strategy to be successful (ie dedicated time, number of projects to take, etc). His talent is undeniable and it would be a big loss if he can't recover from it. I would also hope that someone would give him a chance if he explains himself and the new strategy to succeed.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think it was his intentions for this to happen, but unfortunately it did.

Situations like this are exactly why I will not do business over a forum. It's too bad that a small handful of people behaving irresponsibly or who are outright frauds ruin what ought to be an easy and fun way to broker goods and services from outside of your immediate area.

Won't post any opinions about Deerslayer until he has the chance to post and make things right, but right now he has some major 'splainin' to do.

People do make mistakes, sometimes serious mistakes. I think that "going dark" when you're in possession of someone else's putter that is worth nearly $1,000 qualifies as a serious mistake, but things DO happen, and it's certainly possible that it was an honest mistake that will be corrected.

littlepingman is right. The issue is done when:

1. TM Golf Guy receives his putter

2. Deerslayer offers an explanation of what happened

3. Members of the forum decide whether they want to do any business with Deerslayer

4. Forum admin decides to lock this thread and leave it up, leave it open, or delete it altogether

5. Forum admin decides whether to ban Deerslayer

I think those are reasonable steps that are fair to all parties.

Ping. Play Your Best.

He emailed me this morning and said he is in Mexico and that my putter should have shipped. I hate that it had to come to this, but the lack of communication for 2 weeks was inexcusable.

Did he happen to explain what "should have shipped" means? This bothers me. Shipped when? From where? Did he happen to say how long he has been in Mexico? Did he happen to say exactly where your putter is at this time?

Just some thoughts over my noon hour.

Best of luck.

Wow...oh wow. Terrible situation and I never thought this would happen with Deerslayer.

You know...seeing these situations and also experiencing one myself, really makes me believe that someone, some where will create a process or application to help alleviate these issues. Much like how Paypal (no matter how much you hate it) created a way to pay individudals online...someone will create a way to facilitate exchanges (item for cash, item to item) that will help mitigate the risk.

IIRC, there were escrow services at one time, but I don't think the concept caught on. Maybe the fees were too high or people just didn't want to add that step/time to the process.

The sad thing is that we (myself included) seem to remember more vividly the bad experiences and lose track of the good ones. I know we have a feedback system here, but how many people really pay attention to the positive comments? We might look at them, but they don't get our attention like this type of thread does.

In the end, most online transactions are quite smooth. Well, at least most of mine have been, and I have almost 300 including golf boards and eBay.

Hopefully this one gets resolved in a positive manner.

It seems to be just bad business tactics. I understand that it is a busy time of year for him and there may or may not be an underlying excuse as to why the putter hasn't shipped. But, if you are running a business and relying on forums like this to gain more market share, the last thing he wants is bad press. Like mentioned time and time again on this post it takes 5 minutes to send an email, and we all know with blackberry's and iphone's you can check email on the moon, let alone in mexico.

I sell personal items on this website and try my hardest to guarentee satisfaction with rapid correspondance and constant communication until the deal is finalized by delivery of said item. What ever excuse may be used, in my humble opinion, can not be good enough, and all the people that read this post should be weary about using his service, because it is apparent that there is better ones out there

Is email available in Mexico?

Is cell phone service available in Mexico?

Is land line service available in Mexico?

Is internet access available in Mexico?

Even if only land line access is available, which I highly doubt if they are having golf tournaments there (assuming that is why he's there?) how hard is it to make a land line call to your wife and have her either check your pm's or ship the putter. Seems very odd to me. But we'll see what he says I guess.

Seems odd to me too, I would be worried until I actually received the putter

I always thought this guy was a little strange...

Does this have something to do with him always showing off his kid's clothes, shoes and belts?? :)

A little over bearing comes to mind.. People like this guy always give me the chills, I just hope his kid does not grow up to resent him. Anybody heard of Sean O'hair? Ask Sean how his dad is doing!!

Awww, c'mon guys.

Let's not crucify him just because he's been late with his customer's putters.

If you want to challenge Deerslayer on his personal life why not do it through PM when he's available to respond.
