Give the kid a chance to make it right. Maybe he's learning a good lesson out of all of this. It's easy to get overdrawn, especially when you don't have a ton of money, and $80 happens pretty quick when you involve overdraft fees. Trying to connect stolen clubs to being overdrawn is pretty stupid. Kind of like trying to tie the number of satellites launched to number of teenage pregnancies. Both numbers have gone up over the years, but it's causation without correlation.

And to mxer. If it's the first time you've overdrafted, it's worth making a trip to the bank to try and get them to remove the fees, even now that you've paid some off. They might just set you at zero. I've done it before after I went a little crazy around christmas time in college. I ended up with 4 overdraft fees. The bank removed the fees so all I had to pay back was the amount I actually went over, which was about $20. Do your best to get the clubs out, but don't be so defensive and attack people. You messed up, get it fixed, and all will be good.

Unfortunately, it does look like you need to bow out of this website and take care of those promised clubs.

"MXER581: TOPIC: Stolen clubs
I like to think that I'm a decent person, so I just can't understand why someone would want to take my clubs. As a full time student, i am unable to replace my clubs. I lost all my clubs except for my back up putter, and i even had my ipod and my wallet in there. Thankfully i found my wallet, devoid of all cash and my ATM card. So if anyone in the Sacramento or out lying areas see's some punk with clubs matching my WITB in an older red Ping bag, kill them. Seriously.

And to you, the theif, if you are reading this. May those clubs cause you to shank and slice every single shot of every miserable round you play with my property"
Looks like you answered your own question with this one. You are the same kind of person you "hate" here in your first topic/thread. I can't understand why you would want to take people clubs but I guess all thieves think alike.

Clearly, the thief is reading this... funny how you want people to bash and kill you. Do you have a mental disorder? Best of luck to you, theif, and I hope you get what is yours.

Eric

Looks like you need a grammar lesson too (double negative) therefore, you would care a whole lot if you were banned.

Instead of investing so much time in schemes to get golf clubs and peanuts from people, go to class and make something of yourself. I would be ashamed to know you.

I am taking it personally because people should not be taken advantage of. From now on, people will hesitate and not help if someone actually gets their clubs stolen. I think it is ridiculous that someone would stoop to that level and I don't want that sort of person frequenting this forum.

I offered to help, but was turned down (better offer/club). I am glad it didn't work out I would have been just as foolish for thinking some kid actually got his clubs stolen and then given back by play it again sports.
I stand corrected. thank you, my error. :russian_roulette:

Can I at least say he doesn't know how to spell THIEF!? Spelled wrong in his original "Stolen Clubs" post!

Thanks for keeping me in check!

No problem haha. I agree with what you're saying about the whole situation though, it really is quite ridiculous.
But I know what it's like to point out what you think is an error, and the person you are arguing with comes back at you with the same point, and neither of you want to back down even when you know you're wrong.

Hopefully mxer EVENTUALLY gets things straightened out and attempts to make things right in some way, shape or form.

The thing that got me through this whole thread was exactly what you mentioned EMKelly, it's confusing HOW the money that was sent to his paypal account got to the bank account. I know that I always print labels using paypal, it makes it so much easier, and can actually save you money on shipping as well.

Give him credit for what? He should have taken the money he was given and used that to ship the clubs. Why did that money ever go into his bank account? So if I"m short on some cash in a few weeks should I start selling stuff to get the money, then spend the money on what I want and then decide I'll ship the stuff I sold whenever I can scratch up some money? Yeah I guess we should give him credit for using other people's money to fix his screw up. I'll applaud him for the initial thought but he has screwed up big time here and deserves no credit.

well, i just got the email from PP, mxer refunded the money. like i said before, it's not about the $10, i can make that in two hours of work, oh wait, man that's just $5 an hour, i need to ask for a raise.

i agree with eric, it just takes one bad transaction to ruin it for everyone. we all know that the members here are great, take the headcase example, and will step up to help. i don't think patrick is a bad person, i just think he made a mistake, a hard lesson to learn, but oh well that's life. i hope that from now on he'll pay more attention and bite off more than he can chew.

That's good news. Unfortunately it took a public lashing to get him to step up.

As I stated earlier, and you did too, we ALL make mistakes. Nobody's perfect. Just own up to it and make it right. It seems he's taken the first step toward correcting this mistake.

all is square with me, but i can't speak for the other 4 people. don't know what kind of amends will be made to them.

and i say 4 beacuse there was a fifth member that wanted the club that i requested. mxer told him the club was gone, but that he had a cleveland wedge that he could let him have for just "shipping" money

Not to jack up a thread that is already on it's own little rollercoaster to hell.....but....

IF all things are true about the clubs stolen and then "found"...yadayadayada.

Isn't it a little weird to do a "pay it forward" with clubs that were very generously donated at members time and expense in the name of good karma, etc?

Personally i would have sent those clubs back to the original donators at MY expense even if it took a couple weeks/months to afford to do it if $$ was tight. Or at the very least I would have sent the approximate shipping amount in cash (say $10.00) to each person as a thank you for your extreme generosity.

Just strange.

The kid ran into some problems, he is a kid. It happens. $80 or $40 isnt as easy to come by for most kids as it is for us. He tried to do something good here with the clubs he received. Cut him some slack, we are supposed to be the adults here. Maybe the kid is a bit irresponsible, that doesnt make him a criminal. Lighten up, your righteous anger is very unbecoming.

If he either A. Gives me my money back, or B. Sends the club, that would be the honorable thing to do. But life isn't just about making amends, there are consequences for our actions, either good or bad. In this case it's bad, and a lesson must be learned here, and I believe as one of the 4 who paid for shipping, that this member must be banned.

just read the thread, you know what baffles me more than anything, are the members who have absolutely nothing to do with this come in and support the kid with phrases like "give him credit, he man'd up", "leave the kid alone", etc. who do you guys think you are, your not the ones who got "taken", unbelievable, you probably wouldnt be saying that if you were on the short end of the spectrum

anyway, you guys were really generous, im sure you dont care about the $10, but i would find it hard to bite my toungue also if i was in your shoes, its too bad because it will make people more hesitant next time someones asks for help

Just a little reasoning here, but let's say that his clubs were stolen and he is using the donated clubs. There is also the story of the overdrawn bank account, and the question of how the money was transfered into his bank account. This said account was overdrawn by $20 as of his posting today, but I just received a PM from the original poster that his $10 was refunded to him in the form of paypal. It's nice to see that this was done, but where did this $10 come from? And what is to be of the club that was going to be sent. I say the clubs that were donated should be returned to their original donators, our money for shipping refunded, and storytime to stop from this member.

You could sell your putter alone, clear your overdraft, and still have enough money to cover shipping. Why not post a for sale ad?

It's not like you'll be playing golf anytime soon. You obviously need money for more important things than greens fees right now.
