StarPro Indoor Putting Green Review

3x9 Green with 3 holes

For those of you considering… Here is the review after approx a week.


First off:

I have the 3x9 green, which is just enough room to stand on and putt. I have mine placed on a carpeted floor in my finished basement. The carpet is soft, but I would not at all consider it spongy.

Ordering:

The communication was great. Fast responses to emails and a prompt email with shipping info right after my order; I could not be happier.

Packaging:

The green arrived rolled and wrapped with 2 wraps of plastic wrap. The 3 starpro cups were in a box along with instructions. The pre cut holes have a tab attaching them to the green that needs to be cut prior to installing the cups. This allows you to install all 3 or only 1 of the cups included.

The green itself:

I'd say it weighs between 15-20lbs. I could easily carry the box down the steps, so it can be easily rolled and stored in the event you would want to move it. The tuff is similar to something you would find at Golf Galaxy but spongier. It provides a decent roll with a decent amount of speed to it, much better than putting on my carpet. The green lies fairly flat on my carpet, but I do feel some give when I walk on it. (It has a rubber backing that feels like it grabs the carpet, but yet flexes when my 220lb frame walks across it.) I do still seem to have some slight ridges in it from the rolled up shipping. I'm giving the old heavy medical books on it a try lol.

Cups:

The Starpro cups are nice. They grab any ball hit at them except for the hardest putts, and while they may grab a few that would lip out on a regular green, they seem to be more realistic than any other option without drilling into your floor.

Verdict:

Overall I'd say I'm pleased for the money spent. At around $175 shipped, it is an improvement over putting on carpet, and its easily stored, which makes the "boss" happy. I'm sure you can find more realistic greens out there, but for the money I spent I am very happy with my purchase.

Thanks for the review. It seems to be the best option in that size range. I like that it can be easily stored away as well.

Going to order one right now. Thanks for the review. Looks pretty cool, and should fit well in my kitchen for late night putting. Hopefully it is less creased than my boomerang.

Thanks for the review! After having it a while, do you think the extra 1' width on the 4' x 12' is worth the $$ difference? It also has five hole locations instead of three, but that is not that big of a deal to me.

I do think the extra width would help. I tend to stand a little further away than the traditional "eyes over the ball," so I have to watch that my heels don't hang off the back of the green. The 3x9 was just a better fit for my family room.

i just ordered a starpro 3x9 like yours and have a few questions. (mine is going in between my couch and tv like yours is in your pic)

anyways...

Looks much better than the green painted foam from the guys at birdieball. I bought their green and I think it is just a piece of packing foam sprayed green.
