Are you a Tiger fan?
I'm not a fan of the fact that the media acts like hes a god among mere mortals and talks about him way too much. Unfortunately that's what 73.57% of people want to hear (all the tiger fans). What about all the other players who are way more entertaining and interesting? I'd like to see more complete coverage of all the golfers, not just whoever is the most popular (tiger, phil, daly)

I like watching good golf and appreciate the good shots, but I will always be rooting against him. I was pumped that Y. E. Yang came from like 6 shots behind on the weekend to win by 3, that was simply amazing.
How can you not like Tiger. He is one of the few who has delivered as promised since he was an amateur. I think the guy is absolutely phenomenal and we are witnessing history for what will probably be the "greatest golfer ever". It hurt to see him lose last weekend at hazeltine. While I'm happy for Yang, I just think he is going to fade away, and maybe win another tournament or two. Kind of like Rich Beem. Great guy but a little boring, and what has he done since the 2002 pga. I grew up and still live 10 miles from Hazeltine and I just really wish Tiger would have won one of his majors in my backyard. To all the people who rip the media for covering Tiger, get over it. He is the PGA, much like Jordan was the NBA for about 10 years. If you were at the course last week and saw the size of Tigers galleries you'd know why TV loves him. He is what 90% of the people want to see. Why is that?? Because he is only one who has a chance to smash all of the all time records. I do understand how a lot of players and fans may feel slighted because of all the attention Woods gets. It's just an unfortunate circumstance that they happened to be born and play during the same time as Tiger. I also admit I want to see Tiger break Jacks major record and Sneads win total. Once he does that and defines himself as the greatest ever, then I may start rooting for someone to beat him.

i'm a fan...what's there not to like?

before tiger, golf was an "old man's sport". after tiger won his 1st masters, golf became an "every man/woman/kid in most every country sport". what he has single-handedly done for the promotion of the sport worldwide is unparalleled. any lover of the game of golf has tiger to thank for this. it could also have happened with palmer and nicklaus but for the fact that they weren't playing in the internet age. to be fair, it did happen but to a smaller and niche audience.

also, tiger has single-handedly (and this is something neither palmer nor nicklaus achieved in a small way or otherwise) brought golf to "the next level". suddenly, most everybody hit the gym and changed their outlook of the game to one of athletics and added physical fitness, mental preparation, etc to their set up - not just hitting balls on the range and retiring to the clubhouse for some beers.

aside for the above, the man can play! what did jack say? "he plays a game with which i am not familiar". even the "not a tiger fans" like to watch him play.

Give all members a chance to go inside the ropes with Woods for a tournament and that % would go up.

Why? You dont find that number rather lofty to begin with??

No, I don't. If Tiger ever plays a tournament on your home course, or one you know very well, try to get inside the ropes with him. Have done it with Mickelson, Garcia, Els, VJ, Scott, Stenson, Cabrera, Immelman, Kim etc, etc and not one of them plays the same game as Woods. Thank goodness he's coming back here again this year.

Golf is an interesting sport for me ... I find myself a 'fan' of more players than those I dislike. It takes so much talent to win on the tour and players must execute with incredible strength of game and mind, being such a fan of good golf I find it hard to not pull for whoever is playing the best each week. Only a couple of execptions come to mind, those players who have had a historically poor attitude and numerous excuses for not playing well/ winning (Daly, Sabbatini and Garcia come to mind). Tiger of course is the best in recent history at putting together strong showings in tournaments, so amazing shots + graciousness (for the most part) + sheer determination = a Tiger fan.

I appreciate the positive impact Tiger has had on the game of golf overall. I appreciate the superior quality of his performance on the golf course and the example he sets for professional golf. He certainly works and prepares in a smarter way than the other pros on tour and deserves every win.

I HATE the way the media covers him. I think it is this aspect that gets into the mind of other players more than his game (as great as it is). I know they are trying to promote Tiger for the purposes of ratings (=$$) but it gets out of hand. I'm even less a fan of Johnny Miller but at least he points out when Tiger hits bad shots as compared to the other commentators that blame it on conditions, etc. The media thing is certainly not his fault but I don't see him doing anything to tone it down either.

Not really into the ego thing. If you are going to create a charity at least have the good form to not put your name in front of it. It's not really charity if you build your name/brand from those contributions (imo). It just becomes advertising.

Not a Tiger "fan" but thats not to say I don't respect him or his contribution to the game. Of course he is the best in the world and he works very hard. Yang beating him head to head at the PGA and Tiger's struggles at the Open were very interesting moments in the golfing world. At least for a couple of moments, golf was actually bigger than Tiger and thats a good thing.

My little boy learned how to say "God Damn It" by listening to Woods in TV. :D
