MP-62's vs MP-57's

anyone hitting MP-62's ? what your opinion on these clubs. there are many topics on the MP-57's and they seem like great clubs and highly appraised but i havent found much on the 62's. they look very sexy and feel great.

 

i was thinking on a mixed set of 3-5 57's and 6-pw 62's. ive hit S300 shafts for a while and know the feeling but ive read a lot about KBS tours and it seems they are a custom option for the 62's, the 57's arent on mizuno's site so im not sure if the KBS are available for the 57's.

 

would the KBS give a higher or lower ball flight over the S300's ?

 

would this be a good mixed set or should one get an entire 57 or an entire 62?

I have been playing 62s 6-pw and 52s 3-5 w/ DG x100s for the last 5 months... IMO it is best of both worlds. I find the long irons to offer good forgiveness and slightly higher ballflight. The 62s are relatively forgiving for what they are, however if you catch it high on the face you will be about a club+ short.

If I had to do it all over again I would order a 62 5 iron.

Can't comment on the 57s.

I played MP-57's when they first came out. Nice clubs but did not have the same soft feel as a typical Mizuno iron so I sold them.

Did not give Mizuno irons another look until I went to a demo day and hit the MP-62's. Nice players cavity back with great feel, distance and trajectory. They are still in the bag.

I would go with a full set of MP-62's. I do not thing there is much, if any, difference in forgiveness to justify a combo set.

I have hit 57s and have been gaming 62s this year. I don't think there is much if any, of a forgivness advantage to the 57s. The 62s are a little more forgiving than they appear. They also feel hands down better than the 57s. Very soft and extremely pleasing to the eye. I am very satisfied with performance of the 62s from the sole grind, trajectory, and feel.

I just purchased a combo set of MP-52s (4-6) and MP-62s (7-P). I also re-shafted them with KBS Tours because they weren't offered through Mizuno at the time. Although I've only played 3 or 4 rounds with them, I can tell these are really good irons and are going to help my game.

The 52s are a little more forgiving than the 62s but it's not what I would consider night and day. I have a pretty steep swing and really hit down on the ball so the wider sole on the 52s helps me in that respect. The 52s also help get the ball in the air with a slightly higher ballflight than the 62s which is something I was looking for with my long irons. The 62's are easier to knock down and a little easier to work the ball than the 52's. If you don't need any help with your long irons, I would go with a full set of 62s. Otherwise mixing the set like I did is a good option. Except for the channel on the back of the 52s, the irons look very similar behind the ball. Feelwise, the 62s seem a little softer and maybe a little more solid but once again, it's not night and day.

As for the KBS Tours, I've been playing that shaft for a couple of years now and find it to be the best iron shaft I've ever played. Slightly higher ball flight that DGs but much more control in my opinion. Although the KBS Tours are workable, they are generally hit the ball pretty straight with what I would consider a mid trajectory. They seem to hold their line really well in the wind too.

Played both. MP-62 feel and perform better and IMO pretty same forgivenes. Due the dual cavaty of the 62 you will get a more solid
and stable feel and the 62 are a half club longer as the 57.

thanks for your replys, i pulled the trigger today and ordered a full set of 62's, kbs tour shafts and win ix7 grips, 1/2" long 1*up. i should of waited till the middle of winter in hopes of a price drop or sale but if the weather is anything like last year, jan and feb would be the only months i wouldnt get to play.

im not one to put covers on irons but these are too pretty to not protect them, now to find a sweet set of iron covers
