drifterxs12
Both with Whiteboard 73xIm looking for a new driver as I hit my Tour issue Tour Burner 10.5 with a 7a3 way too high. I'm thinking about either a Titleist 909d3 8.5* with a Whiteboard 73x or a i15 8* with a Whiteboard 73x. I can get the Titleist for cheaper which is why I'm leaning towards that but how do these two combos compare? I want something that I can hit bullets with. If anyone could help out that would be great! Thanks!
matthewmttn
Having hit the two with different shafts I can only say that I like like the look feel and sound of the titleist better, I found the i15 to be harsh. I a really big Ping fan so Im not Biased, but i really like the titleist.
drifterxs12
thanks for your reply. Have you hit the r9 460? How would you compare the ball flight of that to the titleist. I had a 9.5 that I hit a little to high. Anyone else have any opinions?

I found my D3 much better. I wanted to like the R9 because it really suited my eye but it just didnt feel good to me and the LM#s backed that up. HouAggie
I recently demoed both these heads and came away much preferring the i15. I found that the 909D3 spun a lot more than the Ping and I also preferred the look of the Ping. I kinda went in wanting to like the Titleist too, so was a little surprised that the Ping performed so much better.

drifterxs12
The ping is pretty sweet looking. Dang, I was hoping everyone would like one or the other haha.
HouAggie
Haha...that would make things so much easier, but it never seems to work out that way!
Its_KBO.
Love my D3. You should go titleist
dj997
The 909 will prob be shorter...I just switched to a rapture V2 because it is literally 20 yards shorter than my 909. The Titty has good feel...just doesnt go anywhere.
drifterxs12
20 yards shorter with the same shaft and loft? That seems really weird.
TLUBulldogGolf
I have the D3 and I am thinking of switching to the I15. It is a hotter clubface to me. It also seemed to be lower launch and spin than the D3. goshoxgo
No contest, hands down the i15 was waaaay better for me. I have a swing speed right at a hundred and my miss is a hook. The I15 is a beast. Feels as solid as anything.

I still got a couple days before I order a driver so hopefully I can hit both and see. Still looking for feedback! Thanks!
swanry30
Out of the choices you threw out the i15. IF you would consider going outside those picks... the J33r would allow you to hit bullets. J33r is very cheap and you wont be disappointed. HOT low spin, low launch.
drifterxs12
Hit the i15 9.5* with the stock ping shaft. Wow this club is sick. Hit one 360 with not much wind today. Not really sure how but I'll take it. Now I'm kinda wondering if I should get an 8* or 9.5 with a whiteboard cause I hit this combo just a touch high. I guess I could get the 8* and tee it higher if needed. What do you guys think?
TLUBulldogGolf
WB should knock it down some, I can't even imagine an 8* with a WB, I am a pretty high launch player and I was getting a good angle with the stock shaft in a 9.5. If you got an 8* that would be a knuckle ball launcher. jjc
I've hit and tested all three. I know some on here would kill for there R9- I just could not get the numbers out of it compared to others. I have hit the 909 d3 with a wb73x and a I15 with wb73x - hands down I have to give it to the I15. If you are looking for a cheaper option I 100% agree with going with the J33r. You could also look at last years Ping V2. I think it is basically the same head just looks a heck of a lot better in black
jjc
Also don't look at the WB as a low ball flight shaft. It is a mid at best - look at the rombax z, pm 702, axiv green to bring down the flight. Also new px
drifterxs12
K I'm def gonna go with the i15 just need to decide what loft. How's the launch with the whiteboard?
jjc
I hit my TBTP in 8.5. I'm hitting my I15 (and 909) at 9.5 but my head is open 2*-3* so mine is in the 8.something area (can't remember exact sorry). If your coming from a 10.5 TB I would think a 9.5 would work. If the flight is too high with a WB try a different shaft. Also what about your TPHD blue you are running now?
drifterxs12
Well I hit the 9.5 i15 with the stock shaft too high but pretty close. I have the px in my burner and hit moon balls with it. So i'm not sure. And the tphd is just sitting around, I'm gonna sell it when I'm not too lazy to take pictures.

Lefty Cat
The I15 is the lowest spinning thing out on the market right now. I got one digitally lofted to 9.0 degrees and I hit knuckle cuts with it. Very frustrating coming from a high spin/launch player to go to that. [/quote] That's a WRX 360, which exists on our screens only. 2 guys on the Washington Huskies hit it as long as anyone, and the best they could do recently, during a PING fitting, was 322. The OP is in Bellingham WA, at sea level for crying out loud.
HouAggie
I mean, if 2 kids on a college golf team can't hit it further than 322, obviously nobody on the planet can.
