Getting old. 22° hybrid

Now what shaft?

So I am going to give a 22° hybrid a run, but I don't know what to do shaft wise. I have a 22° PNT2 on the way to match my 18° I have now. I'm not sure what shaft to put in it. I want the club to replace my 3 iron distance wise. I'm not sure if a PX Graphite to match my 18° would be a good choice, or a KBS to match my irons. Just wanted to get some thoughts from the WRX community.

I'm really surprised you're not buying two.. so you can try both conveniently. :lol:

I've never been a fan of steel shafts in my hybrids. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I've never hit steel in a hybrid much. I do have a 17° TP hybrid with an X-100 in it and I smoke it. I'm just thinking about weight more than anything. I like my woods and hybrids progressively weighted, and thought the KBS might be a nice transition. Plus its cheaper LOL.

I think pretty highly of the XVS9 I have in my progold, not sure how it'd fare with more loft behind it though. It is ridiculously long, which I doubt is what you're after in a 3i replacement

funny enough i am just in the process of doing the same thing!

getting a pro black 23deg to replace my 3 iron! i am defo going steel!

depending on what shaft i am going to use in my irons will determine what steel shaft i will put in my hybrid. I will DEFO be matching my hybrid shaft to my irons as i want accuracy not distance!

KBS make a great steel hybrid shaft, i'd seriuosly think about putting that in, it would match you iron shafts profile based on you sig.

I was wondering how long it would take you. J/K. Just go with the same hybrid shaft especially if you like the way it performs. The 22* is a lot more versatile than a 3 iron ever will be (especially out of the rough).

I'd recommend sticking with the same shaft in both hybrids to minimize variability. I tried a different shaft in each hybrid last season and it didn't work too well. Ended up with too big a distance gap, too much difference in trajectory and spin.

I'm not worried about trajectory and spin. I know how the KBS shaft will react. I don't want to hit my 3 hybrid super far anyway. I can always choke down on my 18° and close the gap if needed.

Right now I'm leaning toward the KBS shaft because they are $40 and easy to find. I'm not sure how easy it will be to find another HC-1, and I definitely know it won't be $40 when I do find it LOL.

That hybrid shaft looks pretty good, little heavier but not like the irons. That's what I would go with, def a lot cheaper.

My only question is, when is the 26 coming?

JK, but seriously.. heard good things about the KBS hybrid shaft.. looks like a rifle, no steps. Or I'd just get something super heavy and stiff. Maybe another Lime.

I replaced my 3 and 4 irons 3 years ago with the 23* MD with the fuji 904hb. The combo gives me shotmaking ability from rough, fairway sand, fairway, and tee. I can hit bullets or open it up and land it soft on a green. It is the most versatile and indispensible club in my bag. Congrats on a great decision. I would lean toward the KBS...
