Srixon Trispeed Any Lovers?

Yes already did a search. Not a whole lot or it's old. Just wondering if any mids out there playing this ball? TGW has a sale for $12 a dozen, ridiculous! They're still $25 at my local GG. I picked up 2 dozen at that price. Can anyone tell me what other ball this might play closest to?

They are good balls

On-line ball fitting for Srixon recommended them for me

(90 mph swing speed 8 hcp)

They are soft feeling off all the clubs (far from a 2 piece rock feel) but do not generate a lot of spin on wedge shots

Good distance off the driver

I use them in the spring and fall when the greens are softer and the air is colder.

In the summer I switch to Z Stars or Tour i's
Awful ball. Feels soggy and jumps off short irons for fun, very tricky to control around the greens. Strange that Srixons are so different, Z-Star is a match for anything out there but the cheaper end is really average.
This differs from my findings. Although I do prefer the Z-Star in the summer, at this time of year when the greens are soft and slow and balls don't go as far I really like the ball. It does jump off the putter a little more than you'd expect, but you can certainly adjust for it. I gained at least a half a club with my irons which made up for the distance loss from the weather. I didn't find them 'soggy' whatsoever, but different strokes for different folks. I've also had no trouble controlling them around the greens lately, but then I wouldn't want to play then in hot, dry weather with fast greens. At a buck a ball I'd definitely pick up a few dozen, but then I'm a ball whore (still have a few dozen Z-Stars from a BOGO deal last April).

Shot my career low (67, -5) with a Trispeed. I get sick distance with it. I decided to use it for that round because the course was very wet/soft. With my irons, this ball is 5+ yards longer than any other ball, next closest being the NXT Tour.

It's not the best around the greens, but I didn't need it that day. Had no issue putting it.

And btw, im a 2 with 110+ mph swing speed.

I agree that the Trispeed is a very very good golf ball. While it may not spin as much off the wedges around the green, like a Burner TP would, it does respond well I find. Also I like the way it rolls when putting plus the extra distance you get from the driver/woods and long irons is great. All in all I found it to be a great ball for me tee to green.

I had my best career game at one of our local courses (72) with the Tri-Speed as well.

Should use it more perhaps.

This thread is so funny because I found a Srixon Trispped a week ago, left it in my bag then played it on Monday. I was low on balls so I decided to give it a try and I also shot my career low a 74 with a 2 under front nine (eagle and 2 birdies). I used it the entire round and loved it. I went to the golf shop today and saw them for sale 2 for 30 bucks so I bought 4 dozen. I hope it's not a fluke.

Man I am sold! I love it, all these career lows with the Trispeed. Well my career low is a 78, with 79 twice. Usually mid 80's hack, but I DO play by the rules. I will put them in play Saturday AM and go for the record. BTW I just noticed TGW is back to $14.95 per doz. Still really good if it's a good ball. Can't wait to tee it up.

Your 2 for 30 deals sounds great.....wonder if this means we'll be seeing a new version of the Trispeed in the spring if they're being sold at that price.
Thanks and I cant wait to use them tommorow!! If I play lights out again I will let you know!! Good Luck
I think its an excellent all-around ball; its only major weakness is its lack of serious spin on approach shots and around the green. Its long. Its soft. It putts well. And its pretty durable.
Couldn't agree more and at the reduced price of $15/box it's an absolute bargain.

I bought 2 dozen earlier in the year..here are my thoughts. Its great for full wedge shots..no suck back spin lack a ProV. It feels fine and distance is decent but harder to work this ball. I hated chipping with it..no greenside spin when you shortside yourself and you need a flop or are trying to hit the low one bounce and stop shot. No spin on bunker shots either. Not good for fast greens could you could use them during wet conditions. Nothing special for me...

That is EXACTLY what I noticed when I picked one up and played it for a full round. What people tend to describe as "soft" kinda feels "soggy" to me. The distances are crazy. I usually hit my 7 iron 155-160 and was about 15 yards longer with that ball. Very unpredictable. It was fun for the first few shots, but too inconsistent. Oh, and don't try putting with these, they fly off the face like no other ball I've tried before. I'll stick with my good ol' used ProVs and E5+.

I agree with the other users who had trouble with the Trispeed. My biggest issue was the lack of spin on mid and short irons. I know it's not going to perform like a urethane ball, but most other two and three piece balls in the $20 - $30 price range have better short game performance. If Srixon can reformulate the cover, it would be a decent ball.

I picked up some the other day out of curiousity and give them a 7 out of ten. They hit well off the tee, long and straight. They were long off my irons. 60 yards and in, mediocre. On the putting green, I absolutely hated this ball. I usually play Z-stars and with the Trispeed, I was rolling balls 4 feet past the hole. Just didn't like the hard feeling. Soggy my a**. These things feel like rocks compared to the Zstars, yet they call them "soft" balls on the label. For folks used to playing cheap Topflite and Pinnacles perhaps. If you play Pro V1 or Srixon Z-stars, these Trispeeds are like putting big marbles. For the Trispeed price point, I will use Srixon Soft Feels any day of the week.

My TriSpeed story....

I got hooked on the Wilson Smart Core (Professional or Straight Distance) in the late 90's and refused to play any other ball. I bought them by the dozens so I had a large inventory that lasted a couple of years. Then they quit making them (well, they still make them but they are not the same ball of circa 2003). I used up my inventory, bought some new ones, discovered they were river rocks and had to cruise the bay to find the older models. Amazingly, up until this past year I had been able to find enough of them on the bay to keep playing them but they finally got too hard to find so I had to hunt around for a modern day alternative.

I tried everything. I really wanted to like one of the name balls (ProVI, B330, Z Star) but they all just spin too much for me. I hit a high ball and don't need the spin so much off my irons. And, I prefer to chip and run more than chip and check around the greens. I need distance off the tee.

I found most of the comments above to be true. The TriSpeeds are long off the tee, do not spin so much into and around the greens, and I find them to be soft off the putter. At least softer than my beloved Smart Core's, which I actually prefer.

To each their own I guess but I am back in ball heaven having found a modern ball that fits with the way I like to play. I do wish they would spin a tad more into the greens so I am hoping the new version coming out provides a little of this.

Good luck!
