French lick courses and other suggestions

Besides Ross and Dye...what else?

I am going to French Lick in May to play the Ross and Dye courses, and was wondering about Sultan's Run which is fairly close. Is that worth making the drive down to play first? I have heard some pretty good things about Sultan's, but wanted some more opinions on the course. Any other suggestions within about 50 miles would be helpful. I plan on trying to play one nice course in the area prior to playing the French Lick courses. Thanks!

I play at sultans everyday and it is definitely worth coming to. It is a great price for a great course. You can't beat the price.

It is outside of your 50 mile radius, but Victoria National a flat out awesome.

It's also very private. Only about 160 members last I heard. But it is a wonderful course.

Well, after playing the Dye course, Sultan's Run will look like a dump (no offense to SR golfers). The Dye Course is fantastic! Victoria National is private, and has a small LOCAL membership, but a lot of us are out of town members.... It is BY FAR the nicest course in Indiana...probably in the entire midwest.

I am sure I can figure out a way to disconnect the Dye course from what other course we decide to play. Although I know what you mean.

It appears that we are going to either play Sultans Run, or Chariots Run on the way back to Cincy.

Out of these two, which do you guys recommend?

I would definitely play Sultan's Run if I were you. Chariot Run is no slouch, but the natural beauty of SR far surpasses what you're going to get out of CR. Lots of elevation to enjoy at Sultan's, a variety of different hole types... should be able to use every club in the bag. I don't remember that being the case at Chariot.
