benz5521
What flex do I need?I was at a shop today trying to figure out what irons I want. I was hitting 6 irons 190-195 and occasionally 200. I have always used stiff flex shafts and the guy at the shop said I should be playing an X flex... Is he right? That seems like it would be too stiff to me. Would my accuracy improve? Thanks. hsu.mitch
In theory your accuracy would impove, your ball flight would be lower and your distances might be slightly less. Why don't you demo one on the golf course? Mitch
robbie91
its more about your swing speed and tempo -- 190 - 200 yard 6 iron generally makes an x flex but depending on tempo and shaft load thats not always true -- my guess is that if you like the feel of stiff shafts and its working then theres no need to change -- however if your hitting the ball too high, spinning it too much, or missing it all over the place it might be worth a shot to try. btw i assume you were hitting in the simulator the numbers can be jacked up depending on the store. i guess my point is its not necessary that you change but if you have any of the issues above it could help your game. if you do decide to go to an x-stiff shaft be sure to make it fairly comparable to the stiff shaft your playing. for instance if your playing a stiff flex pro launch blue or dvs and then you move to an x flex nv or whiteboard it is going to feel like a steel rod connected to a boulder. best of luck.
