WTH?
What is up with all of the negativity lately? Condescending answers from people in the know, holier than thou attitudes, and no real discussions anymore. I've seen a lot of hot air being blown by people from ALL sides. Heck, you can't even make a post anymore without someone trying to disprove you or take you down. Seems like there is a hidden agenda out there from lots of people. You guys act like Scotty, or T.P., or Bob murdered your families in front of you with putters. It is getting old people.

I'm all for dissenting or contradicting opinions, but only those that add relevant or though provoking insight into a discussion. It does seem that things have been getting a bit out of hand with worthless or derogatory posts as of late... although I've seen cycles like this here before. Hopefully it flips soon.

Thanks Will.

I'm glad a few others are noticing this trend as well. Seems to happen year after year once the season has officially come to an end for many of us.

Oh Will, you don't know how wrong you are, below is a rare insight into my shaded past...

[i]My father was a masterful puttermaker, but remained obscure because he disliked dealing with the rich and privileged. One day, a six-fingered man, asked him to mill a putter which would accommodate his unusual grip. My father poured his heart and soul into the project. The six fingered man returned, but refused to pay the promised price. Thus, my father would not sell him the putter, not because of the money, but because he didn't believe the man could appreciate the putter's beauty. As a result, my father bestowed the putter unto me. As the man grew increasingly angry, he bludgeoned my father with this very putter. Witnessing the crime, I challenged my father's murderer to a putt off, wherein I was deftly defeated. The man let me keep the putter, but only after he dinged the topline to forever remind me of the day's events.

Devastated by the loss, I devoted my entire life to becoming a great putter, so that someday, I could beat the six fingered man. Taking tutelage under the most skilled and savage putters in the game for the next 10 years, I became the greatest putter of my generation. One day, I hope to confront this six-fingered man and say, "Hello, my name is Autisticlove. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Good point Will. It has been crazy negative lately.

I enjoy reading peoples thoughts and looking at all different brands of putters. I've taken a special liking to MACHINE and developed a relationship with Chris and Dave. That doesn't make me want to bag on every Bettinardi, Mills or Cameron putter I see. I own several different putter brands and will probably pick up a few more along the way. What can I say, I'm a ho :pimp: and I appreciate the differences each company possesses.

Thanks. Your post cracked me up.

I will say kudos to the guys that have stayed out of the mudslinging. I wish others had stayed out of it. All the belittling talk does nothing to make a brand look better.

I'm seeing questions asked that are making a lot of people do the Rodney Dangerfield collar tug. It's no longer directed at one particular OEM. It's now spreading to the rest of the industry. Ironically, many people that took the high road and said "how would you like it if we did that to YOUR putter maker? We would NEVER do such a classless thing" are now the people that are participating. How the mighty have fallen...

The question of where the line is drawn between ethics and the almighty dollar seems to shift with manufacturers. And the continual issue is when an OEM draws the line and says "no," eventually enough money or an exception to that rule always occurs. And then the drama begins.

I will agree that it was nicer when companies simply stood on their merits and didn't worry about that the other guy was and wasn't doing. There are plenty of fanboys on all sides to do the arguing without the OEMs and their agents getting involved.

But you're never going to kill the argument. Too much money involved for people to walk away from it. And it's all about the money.

What about the RUS's?

Since the Mini thread I've stayed away from most of the putter intrigue. That thread had enough drama to last the entire year.
Everyone has a favorite brand. I know I do and it is Scotty Cameron. With that being said, I have one rule of thumb I try to follow all of the time.
I read through almost all of the putter threads on any given day. The only ones I reply in ninety nine percent of the time, are the ones dealing with Scotty's. I NEVER go into the threads of other brands and post negative drive by type comments. If I do post, I try to make it positive, again ninety nine percent of the time. I have been known from time to time to ask a question if I feel there is a legitimate reason for doing so, and I have been known, when provoked, to add my own sarcastic reply, but ninety nine pecent of the time I am not the one to draw first blood.
Why was this thread started? http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=318251 It was started for one reason, to slap the face of anyone that follows the brand, and no other reason. It was created to incise and agitate. If this thread would have been started by me, with another maker targeted, it would have been locked and I would have been warned long ago, but this one still lives for some reason?
Until I see these type of threads locked right out of the gate, and the same rules applied and enforced for every brand, I have no reason the believe anything will change here anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong. The bashing got old a long time ago.
Another good rule may be that, if you don't have anything positive to say, just bit your tongue and move on. The Backspace key is one of the larger keys on a keyboard maybe with this site in mind.
I'd disagree. "Garage" putters do not constitute a brand or a slap in the face of said brand. That particular thread dealt with a specific type of putter. It even showed what some people thought were better examples of Cameron's work from the past. Are you really going to defend those putters as beautiful? The general opinion of those that posted was that the putters were ugly. That's not a bash, it's simple opinion.

You had no problem participating in the incision and agitation of Cameron in this thread: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?sh...248755&st=0

As for your warnings, I'd assume that you are being called out for your 1% behavior. Afterall, by your own admission, you're only a nice guy 99% of the time...

The funny part is no one cares what brand of driver, fairways, utilities or wedges you game. But that flatstick takes on an almost religious effect. Like the great Rodney King said "can't we all just get along".
