PLOP putters. Anyone used one?

Hahaha I was 16 when my dad bought the original version of the plop putter. I remember their schtick was ahead of it's time, they actually had a custom fitting rack with a vertical mirror and a putter shaft attached to a stationary head, that could itself move vertically. You took your stance and looked over in the mirror when you could see both your eyes, you had the lie and length correct. they took the readings off the gauge and made your putter. What a great idea. That is right up until you got the putter and hit the first ball.

It sounded like hitting a ball peen hammer into a cymbal.

Greetings, I'm new to forum and found this thread.

I've had a 35 inch plop forever... after changing putting style recently I found a more appropriate 33" on Ebay, practically brand new, for $20. I've tried many other modern putters out, but keep falling back to the ol' center-shafted Plop. I love the feel and weighting, not to mention the face balancing. I also liked the fact that the putter came in various lie angles. (cool)

@joostin Apologies for tagging you and taking your time but would this putter technically be better than a Bullseye when it comes to torque? It's similar to a SeeMore M6 but I can say my M6 definitely doesn't line its shaft directly at the CoG like this Plop putter does. Maybe they were ahead of their time except they should've used stainless/carbon steel instead to quieten the sound.

I once had a Plop putter.  If I recall correctly their main selling point was that they were available in a variety of lengths and lie angles.  In the store the Plop area had a mirror situated so you could take your most comfortable stance and then try a few different length and lie angles until you found the one that sat perfectly flat without either the toe or heel being off the ground.  They putter similarly to a Bullseye but had a little crisper feel.  I don’t recall any untoward sound that was mentioned by a previous poster.  But it’s been quite a while.

One of the first new putters I bought when I first started playing in 1990 ish. I remember using the loft and lie angle thing they had set up in the store.

Sorry been MIA.  If better means its shaft axis is closer to its head CG vs a Bullseye for zero-torque sake, yeah maybe.  It's a very simple symmetric shape, and seems like the shaft axis would cross almost dead on with the head CG.

SeeMore wouldn't have to move their M6 shaft bore too much to get in this space.  Kind of surprised they haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet tbh, as their sight dot would match nicely with these type of putters.  I would like to see them jump in with their Giant or Mini Giant line with high MOI too.

Hello, thanks for your response, it was very helpful. I manged to find a different company aside from Plop that has a center shafted symmetrical 2-way putter and they sell them in 400+ grams to boot.

https://bellputters.com/collections/two-way-putters/products/bell-two-way-370-face-balanced-golf-putter-matte-silver-putt-rh-lh

This is the 370 model and they claim it is face balanced, I'm not sure if they're referring to the toe hang or the SeeMore tee test. Regardless, could this have very little torque and would actually pass the revealer?
