Scratch SB-1 & TM Smoke TP MB

Pics w/ TM Penta Balls!

Got me some Satin Scratch SB-1 blades.

3-PW; KBS Tour shafts all spined and set up. D/S grind w/ killed leading edge, 2* upright, standard length and topped off with new white/black MCC's.

They are around 1/4" shorter than my smoke MB's, but are the same club wise in distance.

Beautiful clubs. The weight is perfect, and the soles are nice and thin, the grind is amazing, and they are SOFT as hell. Feel really, really nice and smooth, set up to the ball nicely.

The lack of offset is nice to my eye, the thin top line as well. They do look somewhat "smaller" to my eye compared to my other clubs, but maybe it's just a trick.

Nice sticks, the SB-1s look great. Looking forward to the Penta review, it sounds like a good ball from the few here so far.

Very nice!! When I pure one of my blades it is just heaven. The trajectory I get from them is perfect.

What was your reason behind having the leading edge killed? The irons look awesome!

The D/S grind on the irons.. It helps a bit to feel like your closer to the ball at address.

It adds a tiny bit of bounce I think to the irons, but without really adding much, you can see a little bit when you look at it directly at the sole. They stay thin, and appear sharp, but keep from digging. I have a bit of a steep swing at time, and play from some nice tight manicured courses sometimes. I pick the ball sometimes, and sometimes I dig to China.

Generally my steep swing, I have a tendency to dig sometimes, and the grind helps from digging, but doesn't bring the wide sole and tons of bounce into the equation, so I'm not attempting to pick and skull shots all over the place.

Lovely irons you have there, how come you got them 1/4" shorter than your TM's?

I actually didn't plan it to be that way, but I took these to the shop and hit the lie board and made sure I had everything right. I had my TM's at 1* up, and got these 2* up because I figured I needed it with all the toe shots and the digging.

Ended up looking at the set and they are around 1/4 shorter, if that, from what I can tell. They were standard, but as you know.. not all OEM's have a standard length.

Oddly, I like the shorter length, they fit me perfect. I needed 2* up with them a bit shorter, and the grind is a perfect match. I have made some swing changes and needed to get re-fit and checked.

Where do you mostly play around Atlanta?

I play alot out west, near Alabama as a majority. Near The Frog, Oak Mountain..

In town, I'll play Echelon, and Charlie Yates.. Stone Mountain and such.. I'll go out east and go play Cuscowilla and those courses.

I got them at Dicks... Almost got another dozen tonight.. The ball is great.

I backed up a 7 iron tonight on some 37* greens...

Cool I will get over to Dick's and get a box. The Penta and the new Calli balls coming out are 2 balls I really want to try out and oh the new FG Tour ball by Wilson.

I'm wanting to try the new Callaway ball as well. I love the iX..

The Penta is a cats a** though. Makes you want to hit nothing but wedges into the green on every hole.
