I have heard of RIP iron shafts and would give up just about anything to try them. I believe I saw a pic somewhere of some unmarked black shafts reported to be RIP iron shafts. I will try to ask around tomorrow without being too nosey.

I was told the iron shafts aren't too far along, but are coming together quickly. Don't remember specifics other than they are supposed to be in the 130g range and are going to be VERY stable. I should also have one of those hybrid shafts to test here in the near future.

I wouldn't even have to run. When I was walking around it was like a ghost town, no one was out and no one was watching the bags. I was suprised. Not in my nature to snatch stuff unless it was obviously being thrown out. I got a DG black S400 shaft with a brand new Grip Master on it today. TM van chucked it.

When mezmorize built my PNT, he offered me one of these shafts and actually sad he could set it up with a higher launch. I was kind of surprised with that but he knows what he is doing...I went the fubuki route instead as I was more comfortable with the specs it has. Anyway, the shaft looks very cool. Thanks for the pics.

I'm glad to see such a good, stiff, low-launch shaft come out. Barely anything "new" (the last 2 years) has come out like this- most of the shafts released didn't have as low of a torque and play as stiff as the classics that are a few years old (Proforce V2, Whiteboard, etc.) Can't wait to see the RIP in person if I ever get the chance!

My guess would be a tad lower launch and much lower spin. I wanna say there were two types of 105X shafts. One was a wood shaft with like 1.8 torque and the other was a hybrid with like 2.8. Someone in the know or someone with a better memory maybe can comment. I have a 105X hybrid sitting in my closet. Got it from the Aldila Tour Shop on eBay a while back for like $20. This is a Hybrid with 1.5° torque. Man, that's lower than most steel iron shafts. I had an Accra SE80 M5 with like 1.8° torque and I spun it out of 2 driver heads.

If this is half as good as My RIP in my driver this will be one of the 3 best hybrid shafts out. I will see if I can find out about the iron shafts for you guys.

I don't remember specifically, but I think you are right on the wood shaft. The 105X hybrid had two different versions. An older version that had 2.4 torque and the more recent version that has 1.8. I have the 2.4 version of the 105X in a 2H Callaway hybrid. It is a pretty stout setup (at least for me).

I talked to the tour guys today at the Norther Trust. They were tight lipped and I will not pass on too much info but the RIP irons shafts are still in early development. They have only tested mid irons for the most part and the shafts are going to be in the 125g range. Can't wait!!!

Ok so I got some info the Hybrid and Iron shaft are in R&D but looks like they are pretty promising. The Wood shafts will be out in the Summer so keep an eye out in May or June.

I'm sure they'll release more information when the rest of the RIP shafts are listed. Now there's only that sign up page for the RIPs in general, no specifics.

That sounds too expensive for my blood, especially for something that I would expect to be a minimal performance gain over an X100 or PX6.5. Although I did see an Aldila prototype wedge shaft in their ebay store for $40 that had me tempted just for curiosity reasons.

That sounds too expensive for my blood, especially for something that I would expect to be a minimal performance gain over an X100 or PX6.5. Although I did see an Aldila prototype wedge shaft in their ebay store for $40 that had me tempted just for curiosity reasons.

My hope would be for a graphite iron shaft that can help lower your ballflight significantly. All steel shafts are withing probably 4 degrees of launch, I want a low launch heavy graphite iron shaft, 130g-ish. I think the RIP iron shafts are in the 125g-127g range.

 

The Aldila SpinStick Proto is a great wedge shaft. I have one, it's in an old wedge so I don't use it anymore but it is good. I noticed the ball stays on line better with mid-length pitch shots. I did get increased spin, I got used to the feel pretty quick. It was pretty consistent distance-wise. It wasn't the best on full swings but I had it in my 60° and it was really nice. I did a review on here if you search for it.
