The game needs more characters like him..... often ridiculed in the press for his "New Age" ideas (Volcanic dust and the like) and for his uber trendy clothing (although he was ahead of the game considering everyone else is wearing something similar these days). But he was/is a good golfer and seemed level-headed to me I shall miss him if he is forced to quit.

Thought he was retired ? .... nah , Jesper is somewhat a freak. Not in personality , but the way he hit his irons. The guy , what 170 lbs , soak and wet ... can hit irons like noone else. Perfect iron swing , down hard at that ball , shaft and hands leading the strike ... FREAKY

But back on topic it was time for Jasper, I would like to see him at some champions tour events, but I don't think with him spending almost all his time in Europe that will happen.

No. I meant Clown. His dad was a professional Clown. With the face paint, big red nose, the whole 9 yards. I think he performed mostly in Sweden..

It's a great pity when news filters through of any player possibly being forced to retire because of injury or ill health, but particularly so in the case of a genuinely nice lad like Jesper. If the prognosis is as grim as it sounds, and he does indeed end up being forced into retirement, Parnevik is certainly a player who I'll miss seeing on the tour. He's a singular character who has consistently brought a splash of colour to the game and who has played some great golf over the course of a long and successful career (if memory serves, he was a graduate of the same European Tour Qualifying School as Vijay Singh) that produced several victories and made him arguably Sweden's most successful male golfer. Without a lot of things happening differently, he could easily have bagged a claret jug - or even two - and been remembered as a Open Champion rather than just a slightly eccentric lad with a penchant for flipped up hat peaks and volcanic dust for breakfast.

It's a shame that the news seems to have drawn a few predicatably crass and insensitive comments from the Tiger lemmings.

You are entitled to your opinion, even if that opinion is blinkered by your obvious hero worship of Tiger Woods.

Parnevik spoke honestly and directly on an issue that he is close to personally - that doesn't lack class, it takes a courage that Woods hasn't displayed with his recent behaviour.
