909 d3 with whiteboard 83s for $240
I think I seriously have a problem. Perfectly happy with my 909d2 with rombax 7z08, but I have hit the 909d3 and like it a lot too. I spin the ball like crazy, even though I don't swing that hard (100-105 mph), so it's a swing flaw more than anything. Plus, I like the slightly smaller 440cc head. All my other drivers have been titleist with Accra SC 75 m4's, and always been happy with them. I've actually been going back to my 905r with that setup a lot lately.

Anyway, pulled the trigger just now on ebay on a near new 909d3 8.5 whiteboard 83xct stiff for $240. Looking forward to hitting it, but I'm having one of those feelings like "I can't believe I just did that".

If I can't get it off the ground, I can probably unload it for what I paid, no?

And, yes, I've got golf lessons planned for this spring once this frigid Atlanta weather breaks. I'm not broke, but don't have $240 to spend on golfclubs that I really don't need.

Ok, enough rambling. Any thoughts/comments welcome.

Yeah, again, feeling a little buyer's remorse. I've always liked heavy, low spin shafts, but this will probably be too much. Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks. That's my hope. Still not very happy with myself. I love trying new clubs, but this is getting ridiculous.

I'll do it. I think if anything I have a slightly descending blow with my driver, which causes a ton of spin (around 4000 rpm) on a launch monitor last year. But this will probably be too heavy too. Would have been better off with the 63 or 73, but saw a this for "buy it now" and jumped on it.

Is it an aftermarket WB or the "Made for Titleist" version?
My gues is its real. I have never seem a WB 83 "made for" shaft before.

I know what you mean though (OP). I have always wanted a Classic but found a deal I could not say no too, and dont really need it but wanted it. I thought is the same, if it works out cool, if not sell it for close to what I paid or it.

I have the 73g WB in my D3 and that combo works well for my SS which is slightly higher than yours.

That shaft 'might' be a tad heavy, but then, maybe not. Don't listen to us, just go pound a few and see how it feels. :)

Heh. I have an 8.5 D3 with WB 83 also. Nice stick but it's going up for sale very soon. Shaft is too heavy for me and I'm liking the G15 just fine.

I can't imagine a clubfitter in America who would suggest that combo for someone with 100mph ss, but you will have to be the ultimate judge.
good luck, hope you bomb it.
That's exactly why I pay little attention to a typical club fitters; and much of the advice that's bantered about on this and other boards.  To many assume what they experience and or are capable of is at most what others are capable of doing; that's not the case.

My driver SS is 103+ plus I have a fast tempo and transition, load around 8-9 o'clock with fast hands though the impact area.  I've been playing "X" for sometime for those very reasons.  My 905-S 9.5 had a "fully" inserted aftermarket Grafalloy blue "S" that played at 278.  Currently a TM TP r9 with Oban Devotion "X" and 909D3 with F6M2 "X" and a TP r9 3wd with Motore F1 75 X.

PS to the OP... if you hit your current driver well, and money is a concern then buying another driver is IMO a waste of money.  fyi, 8.5 and "X" is harder to sell then 9.5 and the same shaft.

I guess you won't know until you try it. As far as the price you paid, you're still ahead because it's value is $260+. If you don't like it then dump it with no real money loss.
to my knowlage there is no WB made for Titleist.
a friend has a titleist 909 3 wood i cant remember if its a f3 or f2 but it has a dimana whiteboard "made for titleist" 75g. he used to work in a golf shop and some how ordered, i guess its kinda special because i have never seen one before like it. to top it off it isn't even on the titleist website a very interesting club indeed.

any way looks like you have people lining up her for the club so what ever you decide looks like you have a winner!:partytime2:

What I've seen and know is Titleist offers WB in 73 and 83 "S" & "X".  I've even seen Titleists name on the shaft, but neither of those are "made for" with tip or other modifications.  Never seen a WB that weighs 75 grams either.

Thanks for all the replies. The only diamana i've hit was a blueboard 73 in a 07 burner tp. For whatever reason, it felt really light to me and ballooned, so we'll see what happens now, but I liked the feel. Like I said, I've had accra sc 75's in the 983k, 905t, 905r and 907d2 (all with good deals on ebay I might add), and really liked them. Pretty much everyone I talked to said it would be too much club for me, but I really like them and hit them a long way (for me), so I'm hoping for the same here. That said, I remember hitting the r5 tp back in the day with the blueboard 83 and thinking it was really heavy, so not that confident.

Anyway, I'll let all interested parties know if I'm selling this thing anytime soon. Completely off topic, but I must say that I carry my d2 with 7z08 around 250-260 every time I hit it. Not as far as my R or 907, but it really goes straight.

I keep telling myself that it's better to be addicted to buying and trying golf clubs than crack. At least I can sell golf clubs again, whereas crack is gone once you use it once.

*note, i've never used crack or any other drug, but after buying this most recent club, I was seriously thinking I needed to shut down my ebay account.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong, but the White 83 in your club is the real deal and not a made for shaft.

I have a chart from Titleist here in front of me listing all the available stock and custom shafts that can be ordered from Titleist, and plotting out the spin and launch qualities of each shaft.

According to this chart and from what I have seen in the stores, I am pretty sure that the only Diamana "made for Titleist" shaft is the Blue 65 (which is a stock option). No White, Red or other weight options in the "Made for" variety.

The tip off in determining whether the Diamana in question is a "Made For" version or real, is the shaft weight designation. The Titleist "Made For" version is a 65, rather than 63, as one will find in a real White, Blue or Red.

The available custom-order real Diamanas on the chart are: White 83, 73; Blue 83, 73, 63; and Red in 63.

A Whiteboard in 83 gram is pretty much one of the most specialized shafts available from any shaft manufacturer, in that it represents the extreme end of the launch and spin spectrum (lowest spin, lowest launch). Just a wild guess, but I suppose 2 or 3% of the general golfing population would be properly fit in a White 83. As such, it would not make financial sense for Titleist or Mitsubishi to incur the expense of having Mitsubishi design and manufacture a "made for" White or Red, period, let alone an 83 gram version.

Back to the OP's question- I think the stiff flex will be fine for you, but as you have stated in other posts, a White 83 is a whole lotta shaft. Shaft weight is a personal preference but at some point the weight, either too high or too low, will negatively impact performance. I have made similar heat of the moment purchases that I later regretted. However, you should be able to resell and not lose much of your purchase price if you do decide to sell it so no harm, no foul.

I just found a made for Cleveland Whiteboard 64 shaft for the DST, so it's possible Diamana's make them for Titleist in different weights.

Finally warmed up a bit in atlanta today. Played 9 and shot 37 (par 35) with the 909d2 today. Ball still seemed to go really high, but probably a good thing given how wet the courses have been here lately.

d3 with whiteboard has been shipped, so it's all over but the crying now. Looking forward to it getting here. Again, I'll update if anyone is still interested.

One other thing, I have noticed that the other diamanas i've hit seem a bit weak to flex, particularly considering I've been hitting bore-through accras in my old titleist drivers.
