Have not hit the TM yet but I did demo the VR at Golf Galaxy and Im also a lefty. (couldn't believe they had one). First off I have yet to be a fan of ANY Nike clubs, and I tried most of them. I was intrigued by the lines and looks of the VR. They finally made a driver with classic looks. The club I demoed was a 9.5* with a X stiff VooDoo. After hitting a D2, D3, G15, and i15, I grabbed the VR, and honestly against my stereotyping and prejudgement this thing felt awesome. I had the tech open the face 1* and kick it down to what he said was 8.5*. I hit it dead nuts 8 times in a row and the numbers were better then any club I had hit before it. The face is hot and it sounds sweet. Im watching eBay waiting for a good enough deal and I will have one in my bag.
'
So after this, I must admit I've been eyeballing the VR blades. I've thought they were a very good looking iron, but figured I wouldn't like them as all nike clubs in the past. Wrong again! These also felt amazing.

Nike is on the right track for sure and has come a long way. I find it hard to believe they made me never want one of their clubs in my bag to wanting 3/4 of a bag full lol. Ok so then I see this new VR staff bag and thats awesome too. Damn whats a Ping and Titleist guy to do?

You are right, sorry for the bad info on the blades. hit a bunch of different stuff that day. The blades I hit were the 68's at the golf expo.

You won't find VR blades lefty. You can get the splits however.

I've been a TM guy for ever so I thought I would love the supertri. I was wrong it launches high and has a lot of backspin. IMO it is a black 460. Nothing to special just a different color. I recently demoed the Nike Vr str8 fit with a px 6.5 shaft and was absolutely pounding the golf ball. 12 degree launch low spin the works. I bought the VR driver and highly recommend it

Good to here an honest assessment.....did you hit the ST in stock? Did you open face at all? Move weights? Did shaft fit your swingspeed? I will probably get both!! Thanks for the reply

we have them both where i work and i hit them each the day before they were put on the floor. i loved the supertri and hated the VR. the VR lacked feel for me and didn't setup well to my eye, while the Supertri setup great and felt just as nice. ball speed was 5-10 mph on average better than the VR and spin was lower too. as far as launch angle and spin rate, they both launched fine for me but the VR spun a little too much. i was around 2400-2700 with the TM while the VR was around 2600-3200.

overall both were nice but if i had to game either one i'd pick the Taylormade hands down.

OK....so i picked up the Supertri....stuck my current shaft in it and just fell in love!!! :man_in_love::partytime2: MUCH better feel than the R9 460.....not tinny.....and even though they both have FCT the ST seemed to sit more open and same setting.....The ST is what the R( series should have been all along!!!

I ended up with a 10.5* and so far no spin issues...frirst round tomorrow is I'll have a better idea.... stay tuned..

Round #1 under my belt.....11/13 fairways hit and perfect trajectory...as I said , I used the same shaft in my 420 head until my Harrison Saga is ready.......gained about 10 yds over the 420 with a higher but non-balloning flight.....also due to the longer heel-toe profile not as easy to turn over(that's a good thing!!) I can now go at it even harder without fearing the quack hook....

Got a few swings in with the VR str8...not as appealing visually and MUCH louder!!! would like to hit it outside however......more to come

What set up did you hit with the ST? I like those numbers but I've also heard the VR Tour having low spin number too. I tend to want the VR now and want to wait for the prices to go down on the ST.

I've hit both on Vector. Haven't been on a freaking golf course in 3 months so launch monitor is all I've got. Like others I was really impressed with the Nike. And I've never owned a Nike golf club. If you look at my signature I've got a lot of TM stuff. But the new TM drivers just don't do it for me. The ST was better than the new Burner, but only in feel. The launch and spin were off the charts for me. The Nike felt more solid, looks much better at address, and certainly performs. It's the first Nike club I would consider actually buying.I'm not sure TM is ever going to make another driver I like. But I love my irons and fairway woods. FWIW My SS is about 105 with a driver and I play off a 4 index so I generally hit it pretty solid. I don't really know if one is more forgiving than the other as I didn't really mishit either by much.

Did you hit this in stock dressing?? The stock shaft won't fit most...I put my own shaft in and there are no launch or psin issues!!

I did hit both with the stock shafts. Don't get me wrong. The Supertri is a nice driver. And I could probably dial one in to fit me. An 8.5 with a Fubuki would work! But overall I felt the Nike was shaped better and a more solid feeling club. I'm playing an old Rapture V1 so I'm due for an upgrade. But I haven't found anything that seems like a real improvement to me. If TM would make a high ball speed, low spinning head that looks and feels like the 510TP I'd be all over it.

They were both 9.5 with the stock stiff flex shafts (which i gripped down on because i like my driver at 44.5"). i mean, when i hit the sweet spot on the VR, it was fine but mishits werent nearly as long as the ST...
