I have a tour issued Idea Pro with black paint where the yellow paint should be. I dont know the difference between this and the retail, but it sure works for me

The one I have has the black paint on the sole, and only the loft is listed on the bottom. Also, it says "A2 PRO" on the hosel....anyone know what that means? I have had other tour issued ones, but never one with the A2 Pro designation.

I've got the PNT2 and just recently put a Voodoo SNV8 into it. This club is perfect. Dead straight every time. Now I'm thinking of getting a 4 hybrid

Because the Peanut 2 is better if you like some forgiveness and a hybrid that loves to go dead straight, and the 9031 is better if you like a more iron-like hybrid that can be worked.

The Idea Pro was and is a great hybrid, but like most companies, Adams keeps making small adjustments to the hybrids and have produced a couple newer versions that are better (IMO and based on what models are now in the tour bags).

Can someone refresh my memory on these?

Staring with Tour Idea Pro versus ...

Adams Boxer Gold Tour Boxer launches higher and spins about the same? (Is it slightly draw biased versus IP 1?)
Adams Peanut V1 launches a little lower, spins less, and is less left biased?
Adams Peanut V2 launches higher and spins more?

What about Adams Gold Tour Boxer versus Peanut V2?

Is this right? Any other characteristics?

Tried a lot of Adams hybrids over the last year. I would say that the Pro Gold is the most forgiving and the Pro Black is the most workable/iron like.

I have one of each in my bag and I don't think that I'll be kicking either of them out anytime soon. 23* pro black as a 4 iron replacement and 20* pro gold as a 5 wood replacement.

If I had to pick just one though it would be the pro black. I have yet to find a hybrid that compares to it when you hit it on the screws (yea I know the screws are now on the bottom of the club but you know what I mean).

[b]I have a 24 and a 27 TI idea pro gold. The 24 has the Matrix and the 27 has a oban revenge. That 27 is absolute money and the 24 is pretty sold as well. I also have a 20deg origional Idea pro TI that is nice and can still hit those low shots with. Although it does seem to draw evertime unlike the pro-golds [/b]

My favorite is the Adams A2P. I can't remember if it was issued before or after the Idea Pro. Same sole as the Idea Pro, but different topline. Most solid and forgiving hybrid I have ever hit.

I just purchased one with an Aldila RIP X in it. I can't wait for it to arrive.
I also have an Idea Pro Black 24* and it really performs for me. Very consistent ball flight and deceptively easy to hit.

With all due respect, the IDEA Pro Tour Issue is not identical to the retail model - think about it for a moment - why would Adams go through all the CAD design and trouble of designing an identical clubhead simply with different markings for Tour? Makes no financial and R&D sense at all.

There were actually TWO versions of the IDEA Pro Tour Issue, a standard model that was lower spin and less draw-biased than the retail model and also an even more fade biased CGmodel. Loft designations on the bottom were the standard Tour model, loft designations at the top were the more fade biased CG.

I used to work for a company that had an initimate relationship with the Adams Tour Department and know this to be the case. Regardless, they are the BEST hybrids ever made. I'm still playing a 20*/24* model.

I had one of the latter, loft-on-top fade biased versions... It did not agree with me, and I struggled to sell it for like $65 about a year ago, and that was with a nice shaft. Market fluctuates on these in general, but it seems the PNT's and Blacks are all the rage now.

The normal Idea Pro Tour versions (loft-on-bottom), however, I cannot get out of my bag. I've tried the PNTs, the Black, an A7, etc. Always come back to the original...sweet club.

only to look up and see more forgiveness than any religion would give me.
Along with the guilt when I extract my 20 buck's from my playing buds.


Not to throw gas on the fire, but I'm a bit more stupidly detail minded.

I have the Idea pro with the yellow paint on the bottom and the 3 iron on the toe, the loft on the heel.
In the yellow paint it say's tour prototype.

Which one is this, the retail or tour issue?

I love some of these older threads. I recently went back to the boxer pro gold and reshafted with a 104 gram V2 x flex shaft 1" over length. This club should never have been pulled from the bag. I carry an 18* and it still kicks. Excellent hybrid.
