Did you get it tipped? Also what kind of launch angle are you getting?

It should be a very low spinning combo but I'm not sure just switching the shaft will bring the spin down where you would want it.

I don't know if you will get the spin down where you want it without a loft change, you will have to try it, should definitely be quite a bit lower spin than the BB. It's my favorite head out right now I'm just trying to get mine dialed in.

I am essentially playing that exact combo that you have described. I have my i15 shafted with my Matte Purple Diamana 73x (proto for the Whiteboard) and in the two rounds I have been able to play thus far this season, it is a MONSTER. Today I noticed tons of roll with it once it hit the ground, moreso than the first round I played with it for sure. FWIW my SS is around 110-114 launch around 14 and spin at about 2700 on average via my Trackman session a few weeks ago.

As others have mentioned above, you're not likely to get a 1000 rpm reduction on a shaft change alone. Also, Ping is notorious for their driver heads having significantly more loft than stated so definitely get it digitally measured.

Another thing, your launch angle is a little high with 170 mph ball speeds if you're trying to optimize distance. You want to get that down to 12 degrees for maximum distance so i agree with others about lowering your loft.

Good luck with your new club.

Agreed. With the swing speed, IMO you should be around 12.0 with spin around 2400.

Go get properly fitted on a Trackman with plenty of clubs to hit if you can.

I think your launch angle is fine, spin is the issue.
Agreed, spin is his main issue but the only way he's going to get a 1000 rpm reduction is to reduce loft and make a shaft change. Shaft change alone won't do it. Otherwise, his option is the dreaded swing change....which is never easy.

Hi guys just ordered a Ping i15 9.5 with diamana whiteboard x-stiff 73 gram. Using I15 9.5 with blueboard stiff 73 gram now and am having about 3500 spin with it along with left misses when i feel like I hit it good. My swing speed is about 118 with about 170 mph ball speed.
What do you think about this combo
EXACT COMBO a guy at my club ordered it in...from the WRX dept. He KILLS it. He isn't allowed to hit on the driving range anymore because hole #7 is behind the range and he rains balls down on the members :)

GREAT combo. You're gonna die.

Going from a stiff Blueboard to an x-stiff whiteboard is a big jump. I might've gone up in loft actually, had them digitally loft it and set it open as well.
It might be a big jump, but with a 118 mph swing speed it certainly sounds warranted...especially seeing as Diamana shafts tend to play a little soft to flex relative to other manufacturers.

Soft to flex, hum. I played a whiteboard 73x in a Cobra ProD 8.5 and it's a mega low spin bunny (But the shaft was 44.8"). , feels stiffer than the speeder 757s I played a few years back. My swing speed is 105++ easy. If I carry the ProD 260 it ends up 360 yards no word a lie, I just seems to wobble off the face (makes a horrible noise) and dives when landing. I had no trouble handling to Taylormade Tour Burner TP with the 65X whiteboard, if anything it felt too loose.

I'm thinking of the i15 9.5 with a whiteboard 73x but playing 45.5", my thoughts run the same as this guy. Highish loft with a fairy stiff shaft as opposed to lower loft weaker shaft.

Just so it helps, I tried the I15 with the stock UST aviCore red shaft. Maybe its just me, although I love the feel of UST shafts they carry 25 yards shorter with my swing compared to Diamana or Fujikura shafts (same head experiment); I think it may relate to the fact I prefer higher kick-point shafts.

Before anyone asks, I'm getting custom fit by a ping reseller with a launch monitor.

How did you guys end up with this combination?

I have a swing speed measured from 100mph for my current set up (G10 10.5 deg Prolaunch Red Stiff) to 105-108mph in the US on a Rapture stock shaft. Difference could be differences in accuracy of two different launch monitors or the effect of the Prolaunch shaft which apparently measures as an X shaft.

I replaced the stock TFC S shaft in the G10 as the G10 played much higher than my V1 Rapture 10.5 Reg that I had previously. The Prolaunch has been much better. I probably lost some distance, but accuracy has improved. Nevertheless still want to do better as Driver is where I need to improve the most.

At a recent demo day I tried the Ping i15 9.5 deg with UST Axivcore Red S shaft. It felt great, was more accurate than the G10 and had lower spin rates than the G10 and on average was about 10-15 yards longer with Srixon range balls (probably 80-85% distance of my Pro V1). I had pretty well made up my mind on this combination but dropped into a good store interstate recently and the fitter there suggested Diamana. Initially he suggested Javlnfx V series as a replacement shaft. He suggested the ultimate setup for me was the i15 - perhaps 10.5 deg and Stiff maybe even the Reg Whiteboard shaft, maybe shorter - but would need to spend some time fitting properly.

As a left hander, it is hard to try different combinations. However I did try a G15 10.5 deg recently with a std length Diamana BB stiff shaft and compared it to the Axivcore Red stiff. It took a while to get used to the firmer Blueboard but once adjusted you could feel the power and there was definitely less dispersion that the Axivcore. The Axivcore has the same smooth feeling as in the i15 9.5 deg head however ball height was much higher and more wayward.

Ideally I need to try the i15 in 9.5 and 10.5 with both the Axivcore and the Whiteboard (63g and 73g) to really compare. I am thinking that the Whiteboard will be lower lauch than the Axivcore so maybe the 10.5 deg is necessary. The lower spin and lower launch i15 probably helped the Axivcore perform better.

Anyway, I am interested in your views and how the i15 and Whiteboard combination has gone for you both? Also interested in whether to cut it shorter? I am hearing about problems with lowering swingweights. I am keen to increase fairways hit. How effective is adding lead tape to compensate for 1/2" or 1" shorter. (Not 100% sure I need shorter anyway as my wrist height is higher than usual - fitted for 1/2" long and Maroon dot >4 deg upright in i15 irons).

Also would it be better to order the WB via Ping Golfwrk or get it added aftermarket? I am guessing Ping will pick a more appropriately matched head to fit and balance any shafts they add.
