Inexpensive wedges

Can someone recommend an inexpensive set of wedges? I feel I should upgrade the ones I'm using currently (Mizuno MZ-55 SW, Orlimar 52* GW, no name 60* LW - all purchased for couple $ at Second Swing), but really don't feel like spending $100+/each for the likes of Cleveland, TM, Titleist, etc... ;)

You know what's a pretty darn good set, these:

 

 

I think they're $100 for all three (52, 56, 60). They set up well, have a nice look at address, weigh a fair amount, and have a wide flat sole that's fairly playable.

 

I was VERY impressed with what you get for the money with these wedges.

nike sv wedges. a number of loft options and they are less than $70 a wedge brand new.

I would second the suggestion of the Adams Tom Watson wedges, tremendous value for money.

The SMT Durometer Wedges (see last months golf digest) have milled faces (much like the forthcoming Sonartec wedges) that spin the living poo out of the ball and soles that are conducive to hitting shots from tight fairway lies. They can be had for no more than $70 a piece with Spinners or whatever shaft you want for that matter. An absolute steal.

There is a little company owned by KZG that makes pretty good wedges....Carlton Golf, really good wedges about $55-60 each.

Thanks for suggestions! So far, I really like the Adams set, especially since it can be had on eBay for $70 or so ;)

 

Now onto a search for Ping I3+ wedge at a reasonable price. My friend just gave me an almost brand new set, but it only includes irons 3-9

I have the Adams set and for the money you cannot go wrong. The faces are pretty durable considering where i mostly play has that gritty sand. Then again i've only used them this season. You can find them online for about 90 bucks before shipping or you can go to Dicks and get the whole set for 100.00. Hope this helps, Steve.

You can get some nice used 588 or 900 Cleveland wedges on ebay for cheap...Also Snake Eyes are pretty good also...

Another vote for the Adams set from me. I've had the gunmetals for 6 months and been very pleased with both performance and value. The lob wedge rivals the feel & performance of some favorite past wedges (Nike forged, Cleveland 588), and having a matched set has really helped me be more consistent across short-game clubs.

We have some name brands including Cleveland and Nike at less than 80 each. No second hand wedges.

Tour Edge has some great wedges for $40 or less on e-bay. Great looking and a very soft feel on chips/short pitches yet pretty solid on longer pitches and full shots. I kind of wish I had not replaced them with Pings (which for me take some getting used to). TE offers them in quite a few loft and bounce options.

Adams are nice, so are any Cleveland really. I have a set of Tour only Stainless RAC box grooves for sale, 50,54,58. Was uper popular before, now seem hard to move with Rac Y cutters. Send me a PM

I picked up the Adams Watson Series wedges at Dick's for $79.99 for all three...I have played them twice in the last two weeks (great weather here for January) and they play as well as any wedge that I have played.

I like the look of the wedges at set up...that is a big confidence builder with me, even though it is 'all mental', I feel like my chips will be better.

Again, another vote for Adams.....They have a new set of the Tom Watson wedges coming out in the

next month or so. There are pictures here on the site......And they are going to retail for $149.00 for

a set of three.

tour edge makes some really awesome wedges.... their carbon steel series was amazing... and their new spin milled series is going to be very good as welll...(haven't hit these ones yet though...)

 

i think that they are both about $65-75 depending on where you buy them...

I remember that as well. I got one for $100 back probably 10 years ago which was 1/2 price and closeout for a new model, they were great wedges at the time. Nothing at the time spun like them. I even had a Snake Eyes blade putter, think 8802 but a bit boxier. Never played them after Vokey's came out and Snakeyes was bought by Golfsmith.
