My battery status shows less than 50% remaining after a round. But that is not a good indication of real battery life. Until the cart mount is released, I have been keeping mine in the cup holder. The backlight is probably on most of the time because of that. Once I can use the cart mount again, I will be able to tell what the real battery life is for me.

My backlight setting is definitely at 100% which is where I always kept it on my SG5 mostly because I have trouble seeing it otherwise. Never bothered to try it at a lesser setting as I figured it would be (more) difficult to see. I'll try lowering it and check it out that way. Now that the fonts have been updated maybe it won't be an issue. Thanks for all the input.

I have an SG3 and am thinking about upgrading but I have a question for you SGX owners. What are the exact steps for getting a shot distance? Right now, I have to hit mark, then ok, then mark again when I get to my ball. I find this to be really annoying and so I don't end up using it very much.

I always thought they should have the mark button set a waypoint and give a you a continuous distance from that point as you walk. When you reach your ball, just look at it. If you want a distance from that point, hit mark again - once click per shot. I keep hoping they'll implement something like this - any chance that's what the SGX does?

That's exactly how the SGX works.

Interestingly, there's been some griping about that because people would hit mark the second time, without looking at the distance, and it resets so they didn't see what their distance was.

That is not correct asianone. The SGX mark feature works the way TD wishes it would, unlike the SG3.

I just downloaded the new updates as well. SGX is rebooting as I type. Hopefully it will fix the auto switch to intelligreen bug as well. We shall see!

Now if I can just get them to release the darn SGX cradle conversion kit (that was due out "towards the end of April") I will be a happy man

Hamster,
I converted the belt clip cradle that came with the SGX to work with the cart mount. and it works great.

here is how i did it;

You'll need 3/16" drill bit and 3/16" rivets and rivet gun

* Cut the little button off the back of the cradle (the thing that would snap into the belt clip)

*Unscrewed the cradle from my SG5 mount, bu ant previous version mount would work, so themn you have the little diamond shaped platic plate with the ball attached to it.

* Hold that diamond shaped plate against the back of the belt crable that you just cut the bottun off and drill 3/16" holes using the screw holes in the plate as your guide.

* Then rivet the plate onto the belt clip cradle, use the riite gun on the inside of the cradle so the smooth side of the rivet is inside the cradle and the pointy rough end will be recessed inside the screwholes on the diamond shaped plate and your in business, works perfect!!!

Probably better than what SC will release since they say it is going to be a "universal mount" that will work with all SkyCaddie's which to me translates it will fit all models all somewhat but fit no models perfectly...

Thanks. But as soon as I plug into the USB port I get a popup message stating that it 'doesn't recognize new usb device' (sgx). Therefore it's never makes the devise manager list. I have 2 other golf gps devises that work just fine, including an sg5, using the same usb port (and caddiesync version).

If your computer isn't reconnizing your new SGX, it needs a different device driver. I have SG5, don't think it's driver will work

You need the caddiesync version for the SGX the version for the SG5 will not work with the SGX. The SGX version will install the SGX driver when you install it...

They updated Caddiesync for Mac, so I downloaded and installed it. I then went through the update process, no problems. Downloaded my courses and then brought up the course I will be playing Saturday in demo mode and it worked. So my good luck continues.

SGX Support Update

SkyGolf has released a new SGX software application (v. 1.0.13) that corrects several reported bugs and enhances functionality.

 

IMPORTANT! Please re-download your courses from your Favorites page to the SGX upon completing this update. This will ensure that you see the new changes in effect. Failing to do so will render any courses currently installed on the device at the time of the update to display erroneous data.

 

 

 

Version 1.0.13 Highlights

• Easier accessibility to the Sync screen from the Main Menu
• "Owned By" screen issue has been fixed, so that the first and last name of the registered user will now show on the SGX
• Several changes have been made to the screens so that they are easier to read outdoors. Font size has been increased on some of the screens. The scoring screens, in particular, have been updated.
   
  
• The timestamp on scorecard uploads to ClubSG has been fixed so that the correct date displays
• The IntelliGreen cursor positioning issue has been fixed
• Dual Greens are now supported on the SGX and will show labels (L or R) at the lower left-hand corner of the IntelliGreen screen to let you know which green is displayed
   
  
• Driving Ranges are now supported on the SGX

• Added functionality to have the SGX ignore a key press if a key is held down longer than normal
• Added support for Preloaded course demo mode

I downloaded and installed the new update as well, with no problems. I noticed the new version comes with a new CaddieSync (V6.0.9) and new version for the Sky Caddie (V1.0.13), which is different from the original announcement of V1.0.11 earlier this week.

I also noticed that on the Sky Caddie web site a new entry under Products... looks like you will eventually be able to purchase Replacement Parts in addition to Accessories. It should be interesting to see what they offer. Screen protectors, rubber USB covers?

Didn't take too long to find a bug. On I-green they replaced the shapes with "f" and "b". However when you mark ball it shows the shapes again...and the f and b. On top of each other. Looks wonky. Not major but annoying.

OK here are the pictures of converting the SGX belt clip cradle to work with the cart mount

1st remove previous cradle from the mount kit.

Then unscrew the diamond plate/ball assembly from the cradle back

Cut the little button off the back of the belt clip cradle (I used dikes to clip it off), then using the screw holes in the diamond plate as a guide drill 3/16" holes through the cradle and rivet the ball assembly to the back of the cradle.

make sure to use the rivet gun from the inside of the cradle so the smooth side of the rivets are against the back of the SGX (I've gotten no scratches);

That was the cart mount from my SG5, but any of the previous SC cart mounts will work...

I phoned Skycaddie yesterday for an Update on when we here in the UK will see our shiney now SGX devices. Rather disgusted when told they are still in the US, waiting to be shipped over. For crying out loud, whats taking so long putting them on a plane and getting them here? We're in May now, at this rate the season will be over before we get our SGXs.

Did the update fix courses with double green? I still don't have the hole previews even though demo mode is on? I noticed that The Sgx does not have anything for a dogleg or the distance to the dogleg when looking at the hazard section?

The release notes state they did fix dual greens, at least part of the issue. Are you sure you're entering Demo Mode correctly? It's a bit convoluted. See my [url="http://clubsg.skygolf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2973&highlight=demo+mode+tutorial"]tutorial here[/url]. Also, I'm sure you already have, but make sure HoleVue™ is available for your course.

They don't specifically say to the 'dogleg', but you'll notice the Fairway Target. This information is on every hole and gives you the most appropriate distance off the tee for a good second shot. On my courses, this number is typically at the dogleg.

Problems, today with my SGX.

 

Update was downloaded, courses re-installed, played a round ... all good.

 

Synced & uploaded the score ... all good.

 

Today, I couldn't get the SGX to show the overhead view of the hole. From the teebox, it only would show yardages to points in that slot machine looking view**. When I clicked "view", it switched to the green and then back to the slot machine view -- never saw the hole view.

 

Also, I got behind in scoring because I was using the laser. When I went in to update the scorecard, I entered my scores & clicked -- it went to the over/under screen and changed my scores to get me +50 over par.

 

Anyone else?

Does the course have "Holevue"? Most don't, so you need to check your Favorites to make sure what is available via the Icon.

I thought you can't play with DEMO mode on? the problem is that almost all of the courses I play don't have hole view.
